Summary: The Anju & Kafei side quest from the POV of the lovers themselves
Status: Complete
The Wedding Ceremony is soon. It might be early, but I finished my Wedding Mask. I wonder if Anju has made hers? She tends to do things at the last minute,so probably not. There is a gathering of the fellows at the Milk Bar tonight. I plan to show off my Wedding Mask and talk about my sweetheart as best I can.
Kafei closed his diary and pushed his long purple hair away from his beautiful red eyes. He looked at his homemade Sun's Mask sitting on his nightstand, then smiled and recalled that day, when he and his beautiful Fianc'e,Anju the Innkeeper, made a promise. They promised to exchange the masks of the sun and moon at the Carnival of Time, their wedding day. It was one month until the carnival, and Kafei was already excited.
Ten O' Clock finally came. The Milk Bar was just about to open. Kafei grabbed his Sun's Mask and stepped out of his tiny room. He slept in the same room as his parents,Madam Aroma and Mayor Dotour, but the corner where he slept was behind a curtain. As he left the Drawing Room,Madam Aroma stopped him.
"Kafei, are you going somewhere?"She said,"At this time of night?"
"I thought we went through this earlier,Mama."Kafei replied,"I'm going to the Milk Bar to hang out with some friends."
"Dear me. Kafei,I really don't think you should go to that bar tonight."
"It's not too far away! I'll be all right!"
"Dear, strange things have been hapening lately. I don't want my little boy to get hurt."
"Mama,I'm a grown man!"
"You're still a little boy in your mother's eyes,Kafei. I can't bear to let you go without knowing you'll be allr-"
"Mama!"Kafei interupted,"Please. I've been looking forward to this for a long time. I've haven't seen my friends since Anju and I got engaged."Aroma paused.
"All right."She said,"But don't stay out later then 2 A.M."
"I won't. See you later,Mama."Kafei left the house and headed for the Milk Bar,Latte.
"Welcome."A voice on the other side of the door said,"Please show your proof of membership."Kafei put on his Romani Mask,"Ah,you are a member. Please come in."
Kafei stepped into the bar,and then saw a group of people at the counter drinking Chatau Romani milk. One had long blue hair in a braid, one had short green hair, the last one had long red hair that was tied on a ponytail.
"Hey,you guys!"He called to them. The blue-haired one turned around.
"Kafei!"He exclaimed,"Long time no see!"
"How's it going,Nayrami?"Kafei said to him.
"Hi,Kafei!!"the red-haired boy said as he looked up from his milk.
"Hi,Dario."Kafei replied as he sat down next to them.
"Yo,Kaf'"the green-haired one finally said,"It's been a while."
"Sure has,Farole."Kafei answered with a smile.
"So,how've you been?"Dario asked.
"Well,I had quite an adventure getting here."Kafei said.
"How? It's not too far from your house."
"Yeah, but I was cursed by the paranoid mother."
"You still living with your folks?"Farole asked.
"Well, like I said,Mama's really protective. But I'll be outa there soon."
"Oh?"
"Yeah, check this out!"Kafei reached into his shirt and pulled out his Sun's Mask.
"Hey!"Nayrami exclaimed,"That's a Wedding Mask,isn't it?"
"Uh-huh!"Kafei flashed a big grin of pride.
"Congratulations,Kafei!"Dario said giving Kafei a hearty slap on the back.
"When's the wedding?"Nayrami asked.
"The Carnival of Time."Kafei responded,"They say it's good luck."
"Wow,betcher psyched!"Farole comented,"By the way,who's the lucky lady?"
"So glad you asked!"Kafei said with a smile,"Just a moment."He turned to the bartender,"Excuse me,I'd like a Chatau Romani,please."
"Here you go,sir."The bartender handed Kafei a glass of the sweatest, richest, most expencive milk in Termina.
"So..."Kafei said getting back on the subject,"My fianc'e. Well, let's start with the basics, her name is Anju. She runs the Stock Pot Inn."
"Yeah,yeah..."
"Well,she's kinda shy,and she's not too good a cook,but she's really nice,and smart,and..."He started to space out,"And...beautiful."
"Well,she gotta be a hotty,"Farole laughed,"You're spacing out!"
"She's gorgeous!"Kafei finally answered after taking a drink of his milk,"You have to meet her. She's got these beautiful blue eyes, and long, red hair...and her smile..."he sighed and leaned over the counter.
"Well,she's one lucky gal!"Farole blurted,"Marrying a guy as good-lookin' as you!"
"So,what's the plan?"Nayrami asked.
"I'm going to meet Anju in her room tomorrow to show off my mask. We'll exchange them at the Carnival of Time."
Suddenly, the door burst open. A big, muscular man entered the bar.
"Oh no."Kafei groaned as he burried his face in his arms,"It's Brac. You guys, just pretend I'm not here."
"I know that's you,Kafake!"Brac yelled at him.
"Brac..."Kafei moaned,"Give it a rest. It's over,ok?"
"Lookee here,jug-head,"Brac stormed over and got in Kafei's face,"You stay away from my Anju!"
"She's not your Anju! It's over!"
"Who told ya?"Brac snarled and held his fist up in Kafei's face,"Now stay away from Anju,or you'll be havin' a knuckle sandwitch fer lunch!"he left the bar, giving Kafei one last glare.
"What was that all about?"Dario asked.
"That's Brac,the carpender."Kafei answered,shaking violently,"He's Anju's ex-boyfriend. He's jealous of me because I'm marrying Anju."
"Seems more like a big bully to me."Nayrami snorted.
"You gonna be ok,Kaf'?"Farole asked.
"I'm fine."Kafei replied after another drink of milk.
A few hours later,Kafei,Farole,Dario, and Nayrami were having a contest to see who could drink the most milk without taking a breath. Farole was winning, and it was Kafei's turn.
"C'mon,Kaf'!"Farole exclaimed,ancouragingly.
"Here goes!"Kafei said. With that,he took a deep breath and started drinking. The other three watched in amazement as Kafei drank more, and more, and more, until finally his glass was empty.
"Ahh!"Kafei finally took a breath. His friends aplauded.
"I forgot you were so good at this game."Dario said. Kafei gave a shy grin, then looked at the clock on the wall.
"Aw man!"He groaned,"Sorry,you guys,but I have to go now. I promised Mama I'd be home by 2."
"We understand,Kaf' ol' buddy."Farole said,"Hope to see ya soon."
Kafei left the bar, then felt a sharp pain in his back.
"Ow..."he said as he rubbed his back,"Note to self:Never let Dario slap me on the back again."
Suddenly,he heard a strange sound behind him. It sounded like a child laughing. When he turned around,he saw a strange imp wearing a heart-shaped mask with big eyes painted in a rainbow of colors.
"Hello, insolent mortal."the imp said to him.
"Who are you?"Kafei took a step back,alarmed.
"I am your worst nightmare!"the imp answered.
"Listen,I don't want to hurt you,so just go away, all right?"Kafei said as he raised his fists.
"Come now,do you really think you can beat me as I am now? Fool!"with that, the imp's mask began to shake. Strange beams came out of the mask and surounded Kafei. Kafei screamed in pain as the imp began to chant strange words.
"Eyes of red and soul so mild,Turn this mortal into a child!" the imp threw his arms into the air. With one last helpless cry,Kafei's world went black.
A few minutes later,Kafei slowly opened his eyes. When he sat up,he saw the imp hovering in the air, laughing.
"Hee hee!"it said,"Now that's a good look for you!"Kafei looked at himself,and gasped.
"NO!!!"He cried,"I...I'm a child!"It was true. He was now half his normal size. His cloths now fit him very loosly. Only his tiny fingers stuck out from his sleeves.
"You'll stay looking that way forever!"the imp cackled as he flew away. Kafei slumped to the ground. He felt like crying, but for some reason,he didn't.
"What am I gonna do?"he said to himself,"Mama's not gonna like this."he thought for a moment, then had an idea,"The Great Fairy! Maybe she can help!"Little did Kafei know that going to see the Great Fairy would put him in even more trouble.
Kafei went toward the shrine in North Clock Town. As he passed the mailbox,a grinning man raced by,bumping into him.
"Hey watch it!"Kafei yelled at him, then he noticed that the man had the Sun's Mask in his hand. He started to run away.
"Stop thief!"Kafei got to his feet and started to run after him,"That man has my mask! Someone stop him!"It was too late. The man had already gotten away with the mask. Kafei stopped to catch his breath.
"Oh no."he said,"Now what am I gonna do? I can't see Anju without that mask!"A tear started to roll down his face, then he remembered,"Things that get stolen always end up at the Curiosity Shop! Maybe my friend there can help!"
Kafei, wearing his Keaton Mask to hide his face, went to the Curiosity Shop to see if he could find a place to hide. The owner greeted him.
"Welcome. What can I do for ya?"He said.
"I knew you wouldn't recognize me."Kafei answered as he took off his mask.
"K-K-Kafei?"the shopkeeper exclaimed,"What happened to you?"
"Long story."Kafei replied,"Listen,I need a place near here to hide!"
"Well, you can use the old store room at the laundry pool,if that'll do."
"Really?"
"I kid you not,ol' pal. Here's a key to the place."he handed Kafei a little bronze key.

One month later...
Anju the Innkeeper looked at the clock on the wall. It was 11:00 A.M.
"It will be lunchtime soon!"she exclaimed,"I must hurry up and cook! Grandmother is surely waiting!"She headed for the kitchen to cook some egg noodles and hot tea for her grandmother. As she cooked, she thought about what she had to do afterwards.
"Let's see, after giving Grandmother lunch, the afternoon visitor should come. He'll be staying in the room next to the entertainers. I hope it will be all right."she took a taste of her egg noodles,"Mmmm...mmm?" At last she was done. She put the bowl and cup onto a plate and headed toward her grandmother's room. She knocked on the door.
"Grandmother?"
"Yes?"Anju opened the door.
"I brought you lunch."she said.
"Oh,Tortus,I've already had lunch."her grandmother said. She was going insane,so she often mistook other people for children from the past that she loved, like her son,Tortus, and her student,Dotour.
"Grandmother,I am Anju. Tortus was my dad. And you haven't had lunch yet."
"I've already had lunch. Now be quick and take away."
"Not eating is bad for you. Please eat."
"Didn't I say I already ate lunch,Tortus? Impossible child!"
"Then don't eat my food. I give up."
"Whew!"
"Whew?"
"Err...wh-wh-whewwould you like me to read a story?"Anju sighed and went to her room to dump the food. As she entered the room, she was greeted by a pictograph of her Fianc'e Kafei, with his arm around her. She looked at the pictograph, then turned her head to a model with a wedding gown and her Moon's Mask on it. She dumped the food, looked at the pictograph again, and sighed. When she went back downstairs, there was a blond little boy around nine or ten years old wearing a green tunic, green hat,and a pair of brown boots sitting on the bench. He wore a sword and shield on his back.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiting."she said,"Welcome to the Stock Pot Inn. Did you have a reservation?"
"Yes Ma'am. The name is Link."the boy said.
"Mr. Link,is it?"Anju replied,"One moment please."She looked through her book of reservations,"Mr. Link. I have you down for an afternoon arival. You're room is our Knife Chamber on the second floor. Here is your key."She handed little Link a silver key with a red tag on it.
"Thank you."he said and went upstairs.
A half hour later, the door swung open. The mailman came running in.
"May I help you?"Anju asked calmly. The mailman reached into his backpack and handed her a red envelope.
"Ah!"Anju yelped,"Um...what is this?"
"I have delivered this to you!"the mailman exclaimed. Anju quickly read the letter and yelped again.
"Ah! Wait! This letter...wh-where did you...?"
"From the postbox."
"Th-that's not what I mean! From the postbox where?"
"From the postbox somewhere."
"That's not what I mean! Please tell me!"
"It's a secret."
"I must know!"Anju yelled. The mailman didn't answer and ran back outside. As soon as he left,Link came up to the counter.
"M-may I help you,Mr. Link?"she stammered,trying to look like nothing happened.
"Yes,I was wondering..."Link replied,"Have you seen a man around here who looks like this?"He put on a Kafei's Mask. These masks were being given out by Madam Aroma to help search for Kafei, who dissapeared last month. Anju gasped and put her hands over her mouth to keep from screaming.
"You're also looking for Kafei???"She exclaimed when she finally stopped panicking,"I-I have a request...Kafei...I have a clue...that will help you find him. At 11:30 P.M. please come to our kitchen. We'll talk then."
11:30 came, and Anju was wide awake, unlike her mother, sound asleep in bed. Making sure nobody else was awake,Anju slowly opened the door and went downstairs to the kitchen. When she reached the kitchen,Link was standing next to the stove. He looked tired.
"I'm sorry to trouble you so late at night. It's about him...Kafei."
"It's all right."He answered,"What's this clue you have?"
"I recieved a letter from...him. Strange, isn't it? Getting a letter from a missing person? But there's absolutely no mistaking from him."
"How?"
"It's clear...to me. Please! Here is my letter."Anju had a letter in her hand,"Put this in a postbox. Tomorrow, when he recieves my letter, you should be able to meet him. Please tell him that Anju is waiting for him. And please, after you see him, tell me how he looked."
"Well,why can't you take it?"
"I'm scared. I-I can't go. Can I ask this of you,Link?"
"Sure!"
"Thank you...very much."Anju handed Link the letter,"Please mail it imediatly in the morning."
"I will."Link replied,then went back upstairs.

Kafei sat and peeked through a hole in the wall. From there,he could see the back room of the Curiosity Shop. He looked carefully for his mask. Suddenly, the bell outside his door rang.
"Who could that be?"he thought. Wearing the Keaton Mask to hide his face,he ran to the door and opened it carefully. The mailman was standing there.
"Yes?"Kafei said to him.
"I have a letter for you."The mailman said as he handed Kafei a letter.
"Oh,thanks."Kafei took the letter and read it as he went back to the house;
Dearest Kafei,
I sent a friend to go look for you. Be expecting a little boy with blond hair and green cloths followed by a white fairy. He also carries a sword and shield.
You're hopefull fianc'e,
Anju
Kafei looked up from the letter and entered his house. As he reached the top of the stairs, there was a boy standing next to a crate, just as Anju described.
"Green hat...green clothes..."Kafei said,"Anju wrote about you in her letter. It seems you are looking for Kafei."
"Yes I am."The boy answered.
"Can you keep a secret?"the boy nodded,"Anju trusted you,I shall aslo trust you."He slowly removed his mask, revieling his chalky white face and ruby-red eyes,"I am Kafei."The boy was stunned. His fairy came out of his hood and spoke to Kafei.
"The Kafei we're looking for is an adult! When I look at you,I just see a child."
"I was turned into this by a strange imp wearing a mask."Kafei answered,"But I'm not hiding because I look this way. When I was turned into this,I went to see the Great Fairy in the shrine near North Gate. But on the way,my precious mask,a Wedding Ceremony Mask, was stolen from me by some prancing man with a grinning face."
"Well, you're just careless!"the fairy exclaimed,"You're just like my partner."
"HEY!"the little boy yelled.
"Before my wedding ceremony,I was truly happy."Kafei sighed,"I was targeted because of what I had been turned into."
"Oh my!"the fairy said,"I pitty you."
"Kafei,"the little boy said,"Anju is worried about you. Why can't you just tell her what happened?"
"I know Anju is worried,"Kafei replied,"But I can't go out yet. I made a promise to Anju that I would bring the Wedding Mask to greet her."He took off the pendent he wore around his neck,"This pendent, please give it to Anju."The boy took the pendent and put it around his neck.
"I will."he said.
"And please..."Kafei said,"Keep what we just talked about a secret from everyone."
"Mum's the word."the boy answered,"By the way, what are you going to do now?"
"I'm going to wait."Kafei responded,"Everything that gets stolen in this town eventually makes its way to the Curiosity Shop. That guy will deffinetly appear again. I'm waiting for that to happen."The little boy looked at him, looked at the pendant, and ran off.
***
Link burst into the door of the Stock Pot Inn. Anju greeted him.
"Did you meet him?"she asked.
"He said to give you this."Link answered. He took Kafei's pendant off and handed it to her. Anju gasped.
"The Pendent of Memeories!"She exclaimed,"Th...th...thank you very much!"
"No problem!"Link replied,"So,what are you gonna do about Kafei?"
"I have decided to wait for him. I've made my promise. I'm fine with this. I believe him."
***
That night,Kafei went to the Curiosity Shop.
"Kafei, what are you doing here?"The owner asked.
"I have a very important favor to ask you."Kafei replied as he took off his Keaton Mask. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a pink envelope,"This is for my mother. If you see a boy with blond hair and green cloths, please tell him to give it to her as soon as possible."
"Sure thing."The shopkeeper said. Suddenly, the door began to open.
"Uh-oh."Kafei whispered,"P-pretend I'm not here."he backed up against the wall and ducked behid some crates. The door swung open and there was the prancing, grinning man.
"Ah,Sakkon!"The shopkeeper exclaimed,"What'd ya bring today?"
"Not much, this time."Sakkon replied,"But I did get this big bomb bag."he handed the shopkeeper a big bag,and he gave Sakkon 50 rupees. As Sakkon left,Kafei emerged from his hiding place, then saw the familiar theif. A wave of anger struck him like lightning. His pulse began to speed up. His pale face turned bright red as he dropped his mask and began to shake with fury. He raced for the door.
"Wait,Kafei!"The shopkeeper cried,"You dropped your mask!"
"Keep it."Kafei replied,"I don't think I'll be needing it much longer!"Kafei left the shop and sprinted after Sakkon as fast as his little legs could carry him, straining to be quiet at the same time. He chased Sakkon out of the town, across Termina field, into Ikana Canyon. At the canyon,Sakkon went toward a rock door. He opened it and raced inside. Kafei tried to go in after him,but it was too late. The stone door slammed shut in his face. Kafei stopped, sweating and breathing hard.
"Rats!"he thought,"I almost had him. Well,he's sure to come out sometime. I'll wait for a chance to sneak in."He went behind a nearby rock and fell asleep.
He was awoken the next morning by the sound of the stone door opening. When he looked up from behind the rock,he saw Sakkon racing out into the field.
"He'll be back."he thought,"I'll wait."
A few hours passed, and a the green clothed boy ran by and noticed Kafei.
"Kafei!"He exclaimed,"What are you doing here?"
"Shh!"Kafei whispered,"I found him,Green Hat Boy."
"Who? The thief?"
"Yes. He uses this place as a storehouse for his stolen goods. Apperently his name is Sakkon. He came to the shop last night, and I followed him."Kafei pointed toward the stone door,"His hideout is behind that stone door. Only Sakkon can open it. The only way in is to wait for Sakkon to arive. I'll wait. I've made my promise to Anju. He will show up."
***
The moon had gotten larger. Most of the townsfolk had taken refuge, fearing that it would fall the next morning. Anju's family was about to do the same thing.
Anju stood in the empty room and swept the floor. As she swept, she thought about Kafei. Suddenly, her mother came in.
"Anju,"She said,"It's time to go."
"I'm not going."Anju simply replied.
"What?"
"I'm not going."
"Anju,what is wrong with you?"
"Nothing's wrong. I got a message from Kafei a few days ago."
"Kafei?!"
"I sent a friend looking for him. Yesteday, when he returned,he gave me this from Kafei."Anju took the Pendent of Memories out of her pocket to show it to her mother.
"Isn't that the Pendent of Memories?"She exclaimed.
"I've decided to wait for him."Anju said calmly.
"Very well."Her mother replied.

Kafei and the little boy waited all night for Sakkon to return from his thevory. Suddenly,a pattering sound was heard.
"Here he comes!"the boy whispered. Sure enough, there was Sakkon, prancing up the hill to his hideout. He opened the door and went in. Kafei quickly ran after him.
"Wait for me!"the boy whispered and ran inside as well. When he caught up with Kafei,he was standing in front of a conveyor belt. The Sun's Mask stood on top of it.
"Look!"the fairy exclaimed,"There's a mask there!"
"It's the Sun's Mask!"Kafei cried for joy. He began to walk towards the mask.
"Kafei, watch out!"the boy yelled,"Don't step on the-"It was too late. Kafei had already stepped on the unnoticed switch on the floor. An alarm went off and the conveyor belt began to pull the mask away.
"Now I've done it!"Kafei yelled. He ran for the to the room the mask was being carried to,but it slammed in his face. When he turned around,he saw the switch he stepped on was up.
"Step on that switch!"He yelled to the green-clothed boy.
"What?"the fairy barked back,"Are you telling us what to do?"
"It's some setup where the door stays open only while the switch is pressed!"
"Right!"the boy said back and stepped on the switch. The door opened and Kafei went through it. The next room had a locked door across from him.
"There's got to be some device to open the next door."he said as he looked around,"Oh no,the mask!"He cried as he watched the mask go across the conveyor belt,"He's trying to pull it out of our reach and make his escape! We've got to hurry!"
"What's this 'we' stuff?"the boy's fairy muttered. Meanwhile,Kafei looked around frantically. There were four blue blocks surrounding a blue switch. He pushed one of the blocks onto the switch. Then he realized the two parts of the room were seperated by a wall. The door on the other side of the room opened.
"That's no good."He said to himself,"This isn't the switch."
"Green Hat Boy!"He said out loud,"Go check that room! There must be some sort of mechanism! Please! There's no time!"
"I don't like him..."the fairy mumbled.
"You talk too much."the little boy said as he put the fairy into his cap. He ran into the room across from Kafei. Kafei watched as the little boy used some sword swinging skills to defeat a Deku Baba in that room. As soon as it fell defeated, the door on Kafei's side opened.
"Go! Go! Go!"the boy yelled. Kafei ran into the next room and began looking around. There were no blocks, only switches. Some were red, some were yellow, some were blue. Kafei remembered that the switch he stepped on before was blue. He ran toward a blue switch, but as he ran,he heard a click underneath him. When he looked down,he realised he stepped on a red switch, and the conveyor belt began to speed up. Kafei panicked, accidentally stepping on a yellow switch. The conveyor belt slowed down. Kafei began to notice a pattern. Avoiding the red switches,he went for the blue switch. The door on the green-clothed boy's side of the room opened.
"Come on,Green Hat Boy!" Kafei called,"Hurry!"the boy ran into the next room and slashed at two Deku Babas. The door on Kafei's side opened and he ran through it. This time, there were lots of blocks and only three switches, one red,one yellow, one blue. Kafei used some logic and muscle to move the blocks out of the way and stepped on the blue switch. The door on the little boy's side opened. The mask was almost to the hole on the end of the conveyor belt.
"Hurry,Green hat boy!"the boy ran into the next room, this time to face a big grey Wolfoes. He quickly killed it and Kafei's door opened. Kafei ran into the next room, and saw a blue switch in front of him. He stepped on it. The boy ran into the room as well. The room had no wall,so he and Kafei were in the same room(Did that make sence?)He stepped on another blue switch on his side. The hole closed just in time. The mask was just about to fall in. Kafei ran to grab the mask.
"At last!"He held it over his head in victory,"I got my Sun's Mask back!"He looked at a clock on the wall and realised it was midnight.
"There's still time! I've got to get back to town."he and the little boy went outside and Kafei began to run for Clock Town. He stopped and turned around.
"Oh,Green hat boy,"He said,"I never did get your name."the little boy smiled.
"It's Link."He replied.
"I'll see you around then,Link."Kafei continued to run for Clock Town.

Anju sat in her room and waited. Suddenly,Link came in.
"Um,aren't you going to take refuge?"Anju asked. Link shook his head.
"I'm going to wait for Kafei with you."he said in reply.
"I'm glad you're worried about him, too."Anju said with a smile.
One hour passed...then two...but still Kafei hadn't arived yet. The violent shaking of the moon's falling got worse and worse, but still no sign of him. Then,at 4 O' Clock in the morning, there was the sound of pattering outside the door.
"Here he comes!"Link exclaimed. Sure enough,Kafei stepped into the little room. Anju looked up. Kafei slowly walked toward her as she took her Moon's Mask off the model that wore her wedding dress. She held the mask close to her face and kneeled down so she could see into Kafei's young, almost teary eyes.
"I have met you before..."She said softly, recognising her fianc'e's gentle smile, pale skin, and red eyes,"what a familiar scent...long ago...yes,we were still young...we made a promise, didn't we...the masks of the sun and moon...we were to exchange them on the Carnival of Time."
"Anju..."Kafei held out his arm elegantly,"I'm sorry I was late."
"...Welcome home"Anju replied. Kafei finally broke into tears, reached up,and hugged his fianc'e as if he never had. Anju was stunned at first, but then hugged him back.
"Tee hee!"Link's little fairy giggled,"They're lovers, but they look just like a mother and child. Link wiped a small tear from his eye. Anju and Kafei seperated from their embrace, then gazed into each other's eyes.
"Let us exchange the promised masks."Kafei said as he pulled out his Sun's Mask. Anju picked up her mask as well. As they exchanged the masks, there was a flash of light, and the two masks joined as one to form the Couple's Mask.
"We have exchanged our oaths and become a couple."Kafei said with a smile,"You are our witness. Please accept this mask."He gave Link the Couple's Mask. The floor shook again.
"There's not much time."Anju said,"You take refuge. We are fine here. We shall greet the morning...together."Link nodded and headed for the door.
"Link..."Kafei called. Link turned around.
"...good luck."Kafei finished.
"You too,Kafei."Link replied, then left the room.
The shaking got more and more violent. The dawn was just breaking over the horison. The moon was just about to crush Clock Tower. Anju and Kafei once again embraced one another.
"I love you,Kafei..."Anju sobbed.
"And I you,Anju..."Kafei replied.
Three...two...one...the clock struck six,but nothing happened. Kafei looked up. The shaking had stopped. He and Anju ran outside. The moon was back to it's normal place in the heavens. They then saw the four giants returning to their home,100 steps north,100 steps south,100 steps east,100 steps west, singing the sad Oath to Order.
"I knew something was special about that boy."Kafei smiled. Suddenly,he began to glow. Anju watched as he began to grow to his normal hieght. When the glowing stopped,he was back to normal. His loose clothing now fit him perfectly.
"Kafei..."Anju said,"y-you're you again!"
"Link must have broken the curse that trapped me in that child's body."Kafei exclaimed, tears in his eyes. He embraced Anju, and just as they were about to kiss, another voice was heard.
"Kafei!"Kafei turned around. Madam Aroma had jut come out of the Milk Bar.
"Mama!"Kafei cried. He ran and hugged his teary eyed mother.
"Oh,Kafei I was so worried about you! Where have you been? When I got your letter I was almost in tears!"
"I'm sorry,Mama."Kafei answered, also teary-eyed,"I'll never run away again."Dotour came out of his house and saw Kafei as well. Kafei looked up.
"Dad!"he exclaimed and ran to hug him.
"I was so worried about you, son."Dotour said. Anju watched as Dotour and Aroma hugged Kafei.
"I guess we're all a happy family again."She smiled.
Kafei told them all why he ran away. He told them about the masked imp,and Sakkon, and how Link helped him get his mask back.
"So that's why you were hiding from me for a month."Anju chuckled,"Why didn't you just come and tell me what happened?"
"I couldn't break a promise."was Kafei's reply.
"It doesn't matter now."Aroma said,holding her son lovingly,"You're home,and today's going to be a good day."
And so it was,the Carnival of Time went just as planned, and in the middle of North Termina Field,Anju and Kafei were married. All their family and friends were there;Anju's mother,Cremia the ranch owner, the owner of the Curiosity Shop,Aroma and Dotour, even Anju's grandmother. Tingle the map-maker threw confetti over the happy couple as they kissed. Among all the cheering and magic words from Tingle,Anju and Kafei stood silent. As they gazed into each other's eyes, they knew they were both thinking the same thing...
"Thank you,Link,the Green Hat Boy."

***
Kafei sat and peeked through a hole in the wall. From there,he could see the back room of the Curiosity Shop. He looked carefully for his mask. Suddenly, the bell outside his door rang.
"Who could that be?"he thought. Wearing the Keaton Mask to hide his face,he ran to the door and opened it carefully. The mailman was standing there.
"Yes?"Kafei said to him.
"I have a letter for you."The mailman said as he handed Kafei a letter.
"Oh,thanks."Kafei took the letter and read it as he went back to the house;

***
