I'm feeling kinda down.

Half in the depressed way, half in the health way.

At the moment, I'm going through party withdrawel; we had an awesome party last weekend, and we were surrounded by great company, including [livejournal.com profile] rinichan and [livejournal.com profile] nandarou_life. I felt super and bouncy and was in 100% con/party mode. But then the party ended. I crashed on the last day of the party; I actually burst into tears when Rowan and David left, and I was rather bitchy too. And now I've gone into a state of depression. I'm trying to get back into regular routine and do the things I need to do, but I just feel so lonely and antsy and blah that I don't feel like doing anything but surfing the web, playing Smash Brothers or watching Buffy.

As for health, yeah, I feel pretty bad. I have sadly become spoiled by bottled water; I cannot put a drop of tap water to my lips now unless I force myself to. There is no bottled water in the house; I'm stuck with tap, which I've been avoiding like the plague. I have a little bit of a headache. I'm betting these things aren't coincidence.

Mom's hogging the TV this weekend, so I was thinking about trying to go to [livejournal.com profile] evenshadowscry's or something. But then I realised that this weekend is Otakon. I immediately broke down, then remembered Damien saying that he's probably NOT going. Gah...I need to talk to him, dammit!

Have you tried a water filter like the Brita filter/pitcher?

I was going to suggest the same thing - I use a Brita pitcher even though the Dundalk water is OK-tasting from the tap. My parents have a Brita and also a Pur pitcher for their water. You can also get the units that fit on the faucet and you just turn the knob when you want the water to go through the filter as opposed to water you just use for washing dishes, etc.

I've always been particular about the water I drink. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and our water came from the Catskill Mountains and tasted delicious. If I were you, I'd also investigate what the filtration system is under your kitchen sink. There should be a contact number on a sticker on that unit. It may just need to have a new filter or filters put in. It looks like it might be the same kind of filter system John and I had/he and J9 have in Lorton, which is called "reverse osmosis". The company we bought it from and that serviced us was called "Rainsoft", but there are lots of companies I'm sure that carry that type of system.

If that is what it is and you can get the company to come and replace the filters, it should work well to give you very good-tasting and safer water to drink from that tap at your kitchen sink.

Feeling down after a con, party, or major life event like graduating from HS is a very common reaction. I've experienced that myself many times. I think that things I've used to help include planning the next party or fun excursion, doing something distracting (depending on your personality it could be starting a project that will make you feel "productive", or watching some tv or a movie, talking to friends on the phone, making a diary entry, etc.) Taking a long walk or doing some other kind of aerobic activity is also very curative for the "blues". Also, try not to fall into the trap of blaming yourself or feeling guilty for feeling bad. Sometimes you will feel down. It's fine to try to do things to bring yourself out of it, but sometimes if you just kind of let it wash over you, it will go away on it's own. In any case, I hope you do feel more cheerful soon.

Want a still? All the water I drink at home is distilled. It takes a little getting used to, but
you eventually acquire the bonus superpower of extra-sensitive taste. A mixed blessing,
but useful.
