OR: What Saria thinks of when she's away from the internet for half a week.

So when Fugen first appeared in the Houshin Engi manga, he had a slightly different look than later;

Notice that his hair looks a lot softer, and the main topic of this post; he has a pierced ear. I checked with another picture of him, it's just the right ear. Then later the piercing disappeared and his hair gradually spiked out into the porcupine that drives artists crazy.

So while I was at my dad's house Thursday night I suddenly thought "wouldn't it be cool if Fugen still had that earring?"

But this is where I get over-analytical and stuff. Since I use the later model for him, I feel weird going back to the old model for the earring. I mean if he doesn't have it now if I wanted him to have it it could be easy enough to just have him GET his ear pierced, but Fugen strikes me as someone with a low tolerance for pain (and believe me, it doesn't hurt long, but getting ears pieced does indeed hurt). Then again if he had a piercing in the first place...but then if I'm basing him off the new model...

Yeah I'm being over-analytical and talking myself in circles here. Opinions?

He could have always had it periced, but he's just not worn the earring? I've spent months without my earrings in, and they've not grown up. That's only when they're a fresh pericing. Given how old Fugen is, I doubt that's gonna be the case.

That is a thought...I was just hesitant about that because it was right in the middle of the Sennin war when his design changed, which is kind of an odd place to suddenly take off a harmless stud earring XDD But it is a thought.

Well, it's also a weird time to start using hair spray, moouse, and gel to get the porcupine going too. ^_~

I think, a lot of times, character designs look different later in a series because the artist progresses. I've noticed this about a lot of my longer manga collections -- Gravitation is a REALLY good example of this. The artist gets more used to drawing the characters and they start to look different. I've even noticed this with Side B, too, and it's only five volumes long. Artists progress; their characters progress. Or they decide the character's design could be better. Or they get lazy. Or something.

And that really had little to do with your problem...It's just something I've noticed.

yeah. It happened to Suupuu too. Two books later he looked less like a horse and more like a hippo. And I DEFINITELY noticed that in Gravi. *preferred Shuichi's older look; he looked less uke*
