sagesaria: (Saria)
[personal profile] sagesaria
I can't sleep, so I may as well post some more of my and PR's log.

As the sun rose, so did the Kokiri. Saria opened her eyes to the incoming rays from her window, and lifted her head with a yawn. Her sisters were still asleep, she saw as she glanced over to them, then down on the floor was Rock, also still asleep.
She blushed to herself in the split-second she realised that she'd almost forgotten about him. But she got over herself quickly, and she just sat on the bed watching him. She hoped he'd wake up before her sisters did; she didn't want to have to explain the strange boy to them. But that thought traveled slowly to the back of her mind as she watched him. He was a strange boy...but he was really cute. He looked so peaceful while he slept.

It took a few minutes, but like Saria hoped, Rock woke up soon after. His eyes slowly blinked a few times, and finally cracked open slowly. He stifled a yawn as he sat up, eyes closed as he stretched. Once he opened them again, they landed on Saria, and he smiled. "Good morning." He whispered.

Saria had been resting her head on her arms while she watched him, and as he woke up she hid shyly behind them, smiling.
"Good morning."

His smile widened as he stood up, properly stretching. Once he did, he looked over at Saria. "Did you sleep well?" He asked.

She swung her legs around, sitting on the side of the bed, and cracked her back quietly.
"Mmm, yes I did. You?" she added, slightly concerned.

Rock nodded, pointing a finger at himself. "I told you, I'm used to sleeping on hard surfaces. I would've been more worried if you slept on the floor."

Saria gave a little sheepish smile, then looked out at the window.
"Oh! We should probably hurry. The Great Deku Tree will want to see you." She hurried quietly out of bed and got her boots.

Now, Rock didn't exactly know what the Great Deku Tree was, honestly. Still, from the context he'd heard it in, he imagined it to be their leader, or something similar. He figured it'd be better not to ask questions yet. "Alright." He said, already ready to go.

Saria had just gotten one boot on and was struggling with the other when she lost her balance, falling onto her seat with a thump. She winced, glancing over at other two beds in hushed silence. Thankfully, the two girls weren't woken up. With extra caution she pulled her second boot on and stood up, peeking out of the door.
There was a pause, and suddenly her shoulders slumped a little.
"Oh no." she groaned, "Mido's at it again."

Rock blinked, and peeked out the door from behind. "What do you mean?" He asked, looking around.

Saria-chan: Saria pointed slightly ahead. There was a tunnel leading toward a large tree in the distance, and in front of the tunnel was a boy Saria's age, standing gruffly in the path.
"That's Mido. He's the oldest." She gave an uncertain glance at Rock, "He doesn't like outsiders."

A small sigh escaped his lips at those words, but he didn't look generally affected, a smile on his face still. The truth was, even back home, he was sometimes treated like an outsider. However, he didn't let it get to him. "Does he guard the… Great Deku Tree, was it?" He asked.

"The Great Deku Tree doesnt like it, but Mido bosses everybody else around because he's the oldest. He's taken the job on himself to 'guard' him."

Somewhere in the back of his mind, he took note of how that description reminded him of Tron and her servbots. "Well… I can't talk to the Great Deku Tree unless I talk to Mido, right?" He asked, his eyes falling on the boy. "So I'll have to talk to him anyway."

Saria shook her head. "Just follow my lead. He likes me."

"…Alright. If you're sure." He said simply, looking over at her curiously.

Saria looked over at Mido a moment, then suddenly took hold of Rock's hand, marching toward the irritable kokiri across the pond.

Rock's cheeks grew a bit rosy as she took hold of his hand, but it did not take long for him to fall into step with Saria. He simply followed her lead.

Saria also blushed a little holding Rock's hand, but she kept her composure hopping across the rocks to greet Mido.
His eyes lit up a little on seeing her.
"Saria~you look pretty this morning!" then he looked at the boy she was dragging with her.
"Who's that?" he said a little darkly.

Yep, he definitely reminded him of Tron. "I'm Rock," He greeted with a smile, although this one was forced. However, it was hard to tell. "Nice to meet you."

Mido just glared at Rock, then back at Saria.
"I hope he doesn't plan on seeing the Great Deku Tree! Nobody can see him without a sword and shield, you know."
"Not that again..." Saria groaned, "Mido, Rock is lost! The Deku Tree could help him!"
"That's not my problem!" Mido turned his nose up, "He's not one of us! I bet he doesn't even have a fairy!"

Sword and shield? Well that was easy!

"Well, my armor kind of works like a full-body shield!" He answered with a smile, knocking on his armor with his hand to reveal the hollow sound of metal. "And… well, it's not a sword, but I've got this!" He extended his left arm and showed them his buster gun. His gaze looked around for a clearing where he could fire, and once he found a spot on the ground, he grinned, and took aim.

One plasma shot to the ground later, Rock turned to look at Mido with a curious smile. "So, does that count?" He asked.

Mido staggered back in shock at the new technology before him, staring at the hole that was now in the ground.
"W-well..." he murmered trying to sound tough still, "Its not a sword...y-you need to have..."
But Saria had already gone past him with Rock, rather amused at Mido's surprise. She was rather startled herself, but that didn't stop her from being even more impressed with him.

While Rock was rather amused by Mido's reaction himself, he still felt uneasy about just walking past him. "Hey… Saria, are we allowed to just walk past him? Wouldn't we be intruding on the Deku Tree?"

Saria beamed and shook her head. "He probably already knows we're coming."
and on that note, they cleared the tunnel, approaching the largest tree seen in the whole forest.

Rock gaped at the tree, his eyes wide. He had been to many ruins and islands, but never had he seen something so large that wasn't a reaverbot, much less a tree. "This is… the Great Deku Tree…?" He whispered in awe.

Saria nodded soberly. "The father of all the trees in this forest, and all of us Kokiri. He's very old...and very wise."
Softly she stepped forward, guiding Rock with her. Fehn slipped out from under her hair again, and flew out to the old tree, hovering there a moment.
Upon closer inspection, the tree seemed to have a face, complete with aged brown eyebrows and a moustache.
"Saria." came a low, rumbling voice, "Welcome. It is always a joy to have you near."
While there was no moving mouth or change in expression, it seemed to be obvious that the voice was coming from the tree.
"Fehn tells me that you have brought a friend."

Feeling rather puny and insignificant in the presence of the tree, Rock respectfully bowed forward in front of it, keeping his head down. "M-My name is Rock Volnutt… I was lost, and Saria helped me out… I'm trying to figure out where I am, but I'm not sure I know…" As an afterthought, he added. "I've never heard of the Kokiri Forest…"

There was a pause before the tree spoke again.
"Rock Volnutt...you are not of this world. You come from a world ruled by science, while we in Hyrule are ruled by magic."

Magic? Hyrule? Wait--not of this world?

"Not… of this world?" He repeated incredulously, his tone of voice indicating he was surprised. Very surprised. Surprised and worried. He looked up from his bow and to the tree's face, so to speak. "But… then how do I get back? Gramps and Roll will be worried sick!" He exclaimed.

There was another moment of silence, as Saria looked over at Rock, then back at the Deku Tree, concerned.

"I sense something very special about you, Rock Volnutt. A great aura of destiny..." a low rumble came from the tree's "throat" as he mused, then continued, "Yes, I believe there is a way for you to return home, but it is a trail of many hardships."

This made Rock rather curious. "Destiny?" He asked, now standing straight as he looked up to the tree. His expression shifted though. Now instead of being curious and worried, he looked resolute and determined. "What do I have to do?" He asked.

"There is a great legend passed down from generation to generation. The legend of the Triforce.
"Long ago, before time or life began...the world was in a great disarray...until three Goddesses descended upon that chaos and created Hyrule. Din, the Goddess of Power, cultivated the land...Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom, poured her wisdom over the red earth and created the sky and gave the world the spirit of law...and Farore, the Goddess of Courage, breathed life onto the world and created all species who would uphold the law.
"With their task completed, the Goddesses departed, leaving behind three golden triangles now known as the Triforce. It is said that he with a pure heart who touches the Triforce will be granted a single wish."
"But there is another legend with this one that very few know about. The Goddesses did not create the earth from nothing. Another force created the earth they cultivated, and the Goddesses themselves. The Goddess of Creation. When the Goddesses created the Triforce, their power was balanced by the Force of Creation. None who dwell in Hyrule can see or hold the Force of Creation, so none know what it is capable of. However, you, Rock Volnutt, are not from Hyrule, so perhaps you may find your answers in seeking this Force yourself.

Rock's eyes were wide as he processed all this information. It was not so much the thought of such things existing that bothered him, it was the fact that he had no problems believing they did.

If this was another world, especially one ruled by magic, like the Tree said, why wouldn't something like that exist?

A small part of his mind argued that someone could've been trying to deceive him again, but he argued against it that if he wasn't in another world where magic ruled over the land, then how in the world was a tree talking to him? "So then… where do I start?" He finally asked.

"To hold the power of creation, you must first prove that your heart blances the three forces that were birthed from it."
Fehn hovered back down to Rock, and from nowhere a scroll of warn paper appeared, dropping into the boy's hands.
"Follow this map to the three temples where your heart shall be tested. Only then will the path to the Force of Creation appear."

Rock glanced at the scroll for a moment, his expression making it painfully obvious that he was curious as to the contents of the scroll. However, he looked up to the tree and bowed respectfully in front of it. "Thank you very much, Great Deku Tree." He finally said.

"I wish you luck, Rock Volnutt." the tree finished, "And take caution outside this forest."
Saria smiled at Rock, looking him over.
"Wow...that sounds like a long journy..."

Rock's smile seemed to widen as he turned to leave with Saria. "It's almost like a dig…" He muttered, mostly to himself, but still loud enough to be heard by Saria. However, his smile didn't diminish. "It's just as exciting too…"

Saria smiled a little enviously.
"Well...good luck." she was a little sad that he would have to leave so soon, but it had to be done. And she wasn't unfamiliar with departure of friends.

However, Rock's smile faltered and his blinked, his expression now one of confusion as he turned his head to look at Saria. "You're not coming with me…?" He asked.

"Eh?" Saria looked a little surprised at the question. "Oh no, I couldn't...Kokiri can't leave the forest."

And then came the obvious question. "Why not?"

"Well...if Kokiri leave the forest, they die!"

Rock blinked. Okay, that was completely unexpected. "But… why? Has it happened before?" He then gazed off to the side slightly and blushed. "Besides… I was, kind of hoping you would come with me… "

"Well we've always been told that since we were born and....nobody who's ever left the forest has come back...''

Rock stared at her for a moment, but then he broke out in a reassuring smile. "Don't worry," He then jabbed his thumb toward himself. "If anything happens, I'll protect you! I'll make sure nothing can hurt you!"

Saria blinked, taken aback.
"Eh? R-really?" she couldn't help but blush.

If anything, Rock's smile only widened. "Of course! I wouldn't let anything happen to you! I'd be a horrible friend if I did!"

Saria didn't answer for a long time, merely astonished and red in the face. Then slowly a reassured smile spread across her lips, telling it all.

Rock returned the smile with just as much reassurance as she was experiencing. "I promise." He added for safe measure, fully prepared to fulfill that promise as long as he stayed with her.

Saria still smiled. The thought of going on an adventure was suddenly exciting. There was still a lingering fear in the back of her mind of dying upon crossing the bridge out of the forest, but...she felt the sincerity in Rock's eyes. He would protect her. He WILL protect her. He can do anything, she thought looking at him.
"I'll get some food for us then!" she said excitedly and hurried off.

Rock nodded. "Alright! I'll wait here!" He called out, still smiling. However, on the inside, he was both excited and worried. He had no doubt that he could protect her, that much he knew. The only thing that worried him is that in this world, he didn't know what kind of things he was going to protect her from.

However, the excitement was from the fact that he didn't know; the fact that he was going to see new things, experience new adventures, fight new enemies. The thought alone sent a shiver up his spine; the good kind.

The Deku Tree then spoke one last time.
"Rock...I am glad that you have encouraged Saria to leave with you. Please take good care of my daughter...she is more important than you know."

Rock then blinked, turning around to look up to the tree. "Wait, you want her to leave?" He asked curiously. His tone wasn't accusatory or disbelieving, it was just purely curious.

But the Deku Tree didn't say any more, as Saria had just come running back with a bag over her shoulder.

That was definitely going to bug Rock for a while, he decided. It wasn't as bad as when he thought he'd killed the Bonne family although they ended up having been alive, but it was definitely going to stick to his mind.

However, he covered it up with an anticipating smile as Saria got closer. "All set?" He asked simply. Hopefully the tree would've had a good reason for what he'd said…

Saria beamed. "Yeah, I'm ready!"
She turned and bowed slightly to the tree. "Thank you for everything, Great Deku Tree...I'll miss you...I'll miss everyone!"
Then she smiled at Rock again, taking his hand to go.

Rock found himself blushing slightly as she took his hand, but he continued to smile. It felt good, to watch her like this. She seemed down about the fact that she wouldn't be able to go earlier, but looking at her now… he was glad he convinced her to go with him. "Thanks for coming with me, Saria…" He spoke softly, giving her hand a tentative squeeze.

Saria nodded, leading the way through the village. There were a lot of strange looks from the other Kokiri as they passed, but Saria ignored them and kept walking. Soon they reached a short tunnel leading to a wooden bridge stretching across a narrow path; the exit from Kokiri Forest. When they reached the bridge, Saria suddenly changed again. She slowed her pace, and gazed around the bridge, running her hand over the ropes suspending it. Her eyes were glazed a little as she did, and she kept a very vague, sad smile.

For a moment, Rock contemplated speaking up, but something inside him compelled him not to. He couldn't exactly pinpoint what was wrong with her, but he definitely knew that it was important to her. He wouldn't pressure her or bother her by asking about it, so he simply decided to wait.

After a moment of silence, Saria looked back at Rock, for the moment having forgotten he was there. She looked a little surprised at first, returning to reality, but then a smile returned to her face.
"Ah, I'm sorry...I'm ready now!"

Rock simply offered her a smile, showing he understood. However, it slowly grew worried. "Saria… are you sure you're fine leaving with me? You don't have to id you don't want to."

Saria nodded. "I'm sure."

Well that settled it. "Let's go then!" He exclaimed excitedly, slipping his hand into hers and gripping it reassuringly, crossing the bridge over to the other side…
