I'll be doing a slightly different structure for these. 'cause I feel like it.
Prompt: #8: Awake
Fandom: Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Genre: Romance
Rating: G
Notes: This one was an idea I got from this OCRemix. It came out rather different than originally pictured; originally it was from Link's point of view. But I like how it came out. Enjoy!
Mist.
Everything lay in a dense, blinding fog. Nothing could be seen ahead or behind. Midna padded through the white, wet grass squishing under her bare feet. Her eyes scanned her surroundings, bewildered, not certain herself where she was going or why as she pressed on. The fog grew thicker, and the air grew cold. The princess hugged her flapping cloak close and shivered.
Finally there was a shadow in the clouds. A tall human figure, slowly approaching. The jangling of chainmail and arms lingered in the air. Midna’s eyes widened and she quickened her pace, coming to a near run to reach the other person.
Soon more features revealed themselves. The figure was male. Green clothes. A sword and shield on his back. Dirty-blond hair. But his eyes remained silhouetted in the mist.
Midna finally reached him, stopping to catch her breath as she looked up at him. Then her hands went to his shoulders and she fell on him, resting her forehead against his armored chest. An arm went around her while the other hand, covered with a fingerless gauntlet, rested on the back of her head, smoothing her red hair.
“Midna…” he whispered.
She looked up at him again, still holding his shoulders. She still couldn’t see his eyes, but on his lips there was a smile. Slowly, she reached up, brushing her fingers through his hair. It was soft and disheveled. She smiled softly, snaking her arms around his neck and raising herself onto her toes to reach him. He caressed her cheek before hooking his hand under her chin. She closed her eyes as her nose brushed his, nearing his lips…
When she opened her eyes, she was lying in bed. The eternal red glow of Twilight shone through her window, and as she lifted her head she found herself in her own room.
There was a knock at the door. “Princess, it’s morning.” called a feminine voice beyond.
Midna didn’t answer, and merely slumped back onto her bed.
Those dreams always ended too soon.
