Category: Poem, Original
Rating: G
Genre: General
Summary: A nostalgic poem about a fudge recipe from my Grandmother
Status: Complete
This was written for an English project last year.
Mid December, every year
Among the lights and Christmas cheer
Children in the windows peer
For Grandma's Fudge is cooking here
Melting marshmallows in the pot
Evaporated milk, boiling hot
Add the tiny chocolate dots
And Grandma's fudge will hit the spot
Stirring swiftly in the heat
Any moment, we shall meet
The little boy across the street
And give him Grandma's chocolate treat
The sweet aroma on the stove
Brings me back to the little grove
Remembering the hours we drove
Greeted by the recipe Grandma wove
The heat mimics a warm embrace
A happy feeling you can't erase
I await the day we go to that place
And see my Grandma's smiling face
Every year in the Christmas flare
We go to that old forest where
The dinner table is never bare
Grandma's fudge is cooking here
