Category: Poem, original
Rating: PG
Genre: General
Summary: A poem about a reflection in a crystal ball
Status: Complete
This was a project for Creative Writing; we had to write something about an Escher picture. Mine was the one with the crystal ball and the cool-looking reflection. And I wrote a poem.
coreybear says that it's very Edgar Allen Poe-ish. I agree :D
A man sat hard upon his chair
Working through the cold night air
Looking up at his tired stare
Staring back in his crystal ball
In the calm of night, he heard a creak
The rusty door let out a squeek
And there he saw the stranger creep
Into the light of the crystal ball
A sudden crash shatters the night
The victim falls without a fight
He sees his own dying sight
Reflected in the crystal ball
The man no longer feels the pain
The clouded window splatters with rain
The murderer steps on the remains
Of the shattered crystal ball
Police answer the frantic call
But cannot solve the case at all
Because the only one who saw
Was the silent crystal ball
