I plan to re-write a LOT of my Legend of Zelda work. Great concepts, but 10-year-old writing doesn't look so good to a 16-year-old.
Chapter 1
The sweet, sad melody rang in Link's ears. He looked around, but there was no sorce of the singing to be seen.
"Where is that coming from?"he thought. He started to move foreward. Soon, among the clouds,he found a young woman, sitting on a rock, singing. It was hard to make out her face because of the thick fog. As she sang, flowers bloomed around her. Link went closer. The woman stopped singing and looked at him.
"Please."Link said to her,"Don't stop."as scarcely as he had said this,a shadowy figure came out from behind the woman.
"Look out!"Link yelled. The woman turned around, and screamed. The figure in shadow grabbed her by the neck.
"No!"Link drew his sword and ran to help her. The figure turned and shot a black beam at Link, while still clinging to the woman's throat. Link fell back. The figure dropped the young woman and stepped toward Link. Link turned to the woman. She reached a hand out and her mouth moved, but no sound came out. She put her hand up to her throat. Link knew what happened. The shadowed figure had taken her voice. He focused his attention back on the mysterious figure, who was now directly over him. It raised a hand, and prepared to fire another beam. Link's eyes widened in fear as the woman mouthed out "No!".
Link woke up with a start.
"No! Leave her alone!"he yelled, still thinking he was in his dream. Then he looked around.
"Oh..."he sighed,"it was just a dream."he sat up on the ground, wondering what the dream meant.
"I wish Navi was here."He thought,"She might know what's going on."Navi was his first fairy friend, and she and Link parted ways when he saved his home land,Hyrule. He was on a journey to find Navi. He had recently come across the land of Termina, where, although he had no luck finding Navi,he had an amazing adventure.
Link tried to go back to sleep, but the eerie thought of the dream left his mind in a tangle of questions. Who was that woman? Why did that shadowed figure take her voice? What did all this mean? He finally gave up trying to sleep and pulled out a map his old fairy friend,Tatl gave him.
"Follow this map..."he recalled her saying,"And you will end up at the kingdom of Ovia. It is truely a beautful place. Maybe you will find your friend there."he sighed and unrolled the map. Acording to it,he was by Brimstone Peak, the huge volcano which has been extinct for ten years, and Ovia was just past the iron wood* forest ahead. Link finally lured himself back to sleep by recalling everything that Tatl, her brother Tael, and their friend Skullkid had said about Ovia:
"It is an amazing, beautiful place! It's filled with lovely,sweet-smelling gardens, great statues of marble and dragon wood trees**,and even cute, friendly animals!"
"Once you arive at Ovia, you'll think you've died and gone to heaven! It's everything a nine year old boy like you could only dream about!"
"I don't really remember what Ovia looked like, but I hear their dragon wood forest is something worth seeing."
The next day,Link mounted his horse,Epona, and begen to ride through the iron wood forest. It wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. The iron wood trees were actually quite beautiful. Soon he was through the forest and was ready to see the world he heard so much about. He closed his eyes, and when he felt the sun on his face,he opened his eyes...
To be continued...
*I'm not sure if iron wood trees excist in the original LOZ,but in the cartoon, there was an iron wood tree the Triforce of Wisdom described as "The bow that cannot bend".
**Same story as above:I don't know if dragon wood trees are in the origonal game, but in Captain N,they make a wooden dragon out of dragon wood in Hyrule.
