A rant on insomnia
Nov. 16th, 2010 02:09 amYou know, as a kid I was always restless at night. And even now I'm still annoyed at the response I got when I told my parents that I can't sleep.
I'm sure you all heard this one before: "Well, have you tried lying down and closing your eyes?"
NO SHIT, IS IT REALLY THAT SIMPLE?!
I know, I know, a lot of kids will make up excuses as to why they can't sleep, but for me, at least as far as I recall, they were more than excuses. I really was too hot. I really did have a weird pain in my side. I really was anxious about weird noises. I really was overthinking something that scared me.
So why does it take twenty years for them to BELIEVE me when I can't fucking sleep?
Damn kids giving the rest of us a bad name.
