Faerie Fest:
May. 20th, 2009 12:38 pmhighlights:
- less workload this time, got to see more of the storytellers
-
countessrae,
counttom and
chibi_scriber made it 8D
- overheard from a little girl: "I love the Faerie Festival!" that made me smile. I also instinctively made a mental note about it since my job once upon a time was to report feedback overheard from the guests
- bellydancers and Gypsy Nomads
- the weather could have been much, much worse. it rained on Sunday morning but stopped shortly before we started
- the energy of the place overall was AMAZING. one thing I noted was when the bellydancers first started on Saturday. They made the announcement, the music started, and as she started dancing the wind suddenly picked up. Amazing timing was amazing.
- there was apparently an air show close by (the grounds are pretty much right next to an airport; we often joke about being under attack because planes keep flying overhead) sonic booms from the show kept making me think it was thunder. once I found it it wasn't thunder though, we all joked that it was just a dragon
- the afterparty didn't get completely canceled this time; we had time for ilyAIMY, Gypsy Nomads and two firespinner shows
- OH my God the Gypsy Nomads show that night. I always love their shows and music, and Scott and Samantha are always awesome, but this year at the afterparty was ORGAZMIC. highlights of that show include an audience enactment of their song Oh Gypsy, the performance of Ghost Drum which is my favorite of their drum songs and was absolutely perfect for the middle of the night with afterparty energy everywhere, and their Ogre Dance. Katrina and I were calling for it all night and when they finally did it it was the best one we'd ever seen. For one thing watching the guys from Excentric stomp around with their shirts off=YUM, and also they added a new piece of the song for audience participation. How they worded it before they played was that they had a boat to get out of the harbor, and depending on the audience it was either a Viking ship or a rowboat. Then when they started playing in the last verse we all had to shout "HEAVE! HO!" with them as loud as we good, and depending on how into it we were determined the ship. The afternoon's show was a rowboat, but that night we got a Viking ship ♥
- conversation had with Excentric while they were doing some contact juggling;
woman: Oh yeah, that's the thing from Labrynth!
Juggler (I really should remember their names DX): Yes, but I don't make a habbit of singing bad 80's pop music or throwing around babies.
Me: Or wearing tight pants?
Juggler: Or wearing right pants.
XD I love those guys
