This "motivation" thing is hard.
Jun. 30th, 2007 01:36 pmWhile I'm doing other stuff on the computer, I'm trying to work toward actually doing something useful this summer. One of the things I need to do is replace my Social Security Card.
I went to SSA.gov to see what I needed to do. They gave me a PDF which I should look at eventually, and they also said that I need to "Present a recently issued document to show your identity." What do they need there? Would my college ID work, or my birth certificate?

Date: 2007-07-01 04:07 pm (UTC)We can accept only certain documents as proof of identity. An acceptable document must be current (not expired) and show your name, identifying information (date of birth or age) and preferably a recent photograph. For example, as proof of identity Social Security must see your:
U.S. driver’s license; don't have
State-issued nondriver identification card; or don't have
U.S. passport. do you have a passport?
If you do not have one of these specific documents or you cannot get a replacement for one of them within 10 days, we will ask to see other documents, including:
Employee ID card; don't have
School ID card; BINGO!!!
Health insurance card (not a Medicare card); this probably doesn't have a picture, so it would not be strong enough on its own.
U.S. military ID card; or
Adoption decree.
Good luck.
