Roleplaying DRAAAAAAAMAAAAAA!!!

fandangohigh. I'm not always best at her character, and weird oocness happens sometimes, but it's a multifandom RP: everything is possible!
Anyway, there is a thread in the game for the school's dance. Everybody is required to come, but not everybody's shown up yet. But there's already been an intense story that went by with me. And it was so much fun I just HAVE to blog it! OOC conversations and all! OOC always has parenthesis around it.
First, my introductory post:
Midna stalked into the gymnasium, garbed begrudgingly in the dress Hilda picked out for her ((Sorry, Hilda-chan! I had to say it! XD)). What a complete waste of time...she had never felt so degraded in her life when they had to look for clothes in the children's isle of the local department store; everything with itchy frills and annoying bows. At least they found something in black.
Mingling, dancing, everything completely out of the question. Midna only came to avoid her Satanic teacher's wrath...even a mistress of the dark knew when not to press her luck. So upon entering, she merely hovered in a corner and sulked.
(note: Hilda is another character that Midna had earlier made an aquaintence.
Then Near (from Death Note, right? Never read it :P) showed up and we had some drama:
Near: Near walked into the gymnasium, slowly and totally uninterested, wearing his over-sized white pajamas which he didn't bother changing for this event.
He wasn't exactly happy of being in such a noisy and crowded place, both features he always found quite stressing, to say the least, but he had decided to take it as what it really was: A duty.
A duty because he was, after all, member of the student council; also, because Satan stated that attendance was enforced; and, finally, because Mello would create so much drama in case he dared to refuse to go (though this last reason alone, Near concluded, wouldn't have been enough for him to go anywhere).
Feeling really out of place, uncomfortable and really annoyed, he just looked for the farther away chair with the hope nobody would come to disturb him more than what he already was.
Near sat down on the chair, raising one of his legs up to his stomach and twirling his hair as he usually did, silent.

Me: Midna was starting to become bored with only sitting by herself. She didn't really want to participate in the dance, but if she only sat in the corner the rest of the night, she would completely lose her mind.
She saw Near sitting alone and decided that he would suffice for distraction. She vaguely remembered him welcoming her to the school, and decided that he was...alright...as humans go anyway.
So she slipped into the shadows of tables and anything else that was cast in the sweet darkness. Before long, she materialised again next to Near, sitting casually in the air.
"It's good to see I'm not the only one who didn't want to be here.
Mello (another Death Note character?): When Mello entered the dance, wearing his trademark leather and crosses, he immediately noticed two things:
1. Near had come
2. There was a girl talking to Near
While the first was a mixed blessing, because while Mello had definitely been determined to make Near attend, it would have been fun to drag him out bodily and create a big fuss.
The second, however, was enough reason for Mello to see red. Girls were not allowed to talk to Near. No one was allowed to talk to Near. Unless Mello dictated it so.
Shoving his way through the crowds, Mello promptly interrupted, not bothering to listen to whatever stupid things the woman was talking about. "Near!" he exclaimed, taking his place beside Near's chair, laying a hand on his shoulder. "Where were you? You're hardly a good date if you don't at least dance one dance with me!"
That was a bold-faced lie, Mello's superego nigged at him, but Mello ignored it. Even if he hadn't asked Near to the dance (who knew how that boy would react, after all?), he hoped Near would play along. Anything to get him away from this... girl.
Finally allowing his eyes to settle on the girl, he raised an eyebrow, his eyes narrowing. "Near... who's your friend?"
Me: Midna looked up at the new boy and twirled up to him, dissheveled red hair dancing around her head as she did. It felt strange; she wasn't used to traveling without her helmet, let alone with her hair down.
She brought herself into the new boy's face, sitting on the back of the chair in front, arms crossed and eyes narrowed.
"I'm Midna. And...who are you?"
Near: Near's concentration was suddenly broken when he saw a creature appearing right in front of him, someone who looked quite different from a normal human being, and who, by the way, was... flying.
His surprise hardly lasted a whole second, though, as he suddenly remembered having met this person online. Even if seeing her with his own eyes was way more impacting, this wasn't the first inexplicable phenomenon he had observed in this school.
As annoyed as he would usually be at being talked to in such a situation, he decided that this individual in front of him was definitely interesting and out of ordinary, which meant that having a conversation with her would be worth it for several reasons. This was the reason why he posted in her journal, after all.
But as soon as he opened his mouth to speak, a very familiar voice interrupted him; a voice followed by a hand on his shoulder, something that made him tense more inside than outside, as he remained quite undisturbed on the surface.
He decided to ignore Mello's first sentence and just let them both talk
Mello: Mello's eyes widened. This Midna girl was... weird. Not only did her hair seem to float about the place, but... there was an odd sort of aura floating around her, like a heavy ominous cloud, and Mello wondered just what it was. Nevertheless, Mello was Mello, and would only be Mello, and as such, refused to be intimidated.
"I'm Mello," he informed her. Deciding to be nice (and more than a little creeped out by her), he extended a hand to shake. "I... don't believe I've met you before. What were you discussing with Near?"
Me: "Just small talk." Midna only somewhat hid the fact that she didn't like this new one; he was rude.
So now that she answered Mello's question, she merely turned to Near again, who looked like he was also ignoring the intruder.
"It's been a while, Near."
Near: Near saw the fact that Midna was ignoring Mello as a sign of an approaching storm, but did nothing about it, as always. Mello would end up getting angry anyway, no matter what the reason, and Near wasn't going to give it much importance right now, as he couldn't help observing and studying the person in front of him with his dark and unblinking eyes.
"Technically, we've never met before. But yes, you could say it's been a while."
Mello: Mello's eyes narrowed. Techincally, they had never met before, but Near would still rather talk to this girl than to him? And he was ignoring him?
Mello's eyes flashed. This Midna person couldn't be *too* dangerous, after all.
"Yes yes, no one's seen the other for forever and whatnot. No one gives a damn," he said, his eyes narrowed. "Now, Near, you owe me a dance. Midna, I suggest you dance with someone too. It is a dance, after all. But not with Near. That's... not allowed."
Me: This was becoming more than Midna could take. Mellow was truly starting to get on her nerves.
Hands on her hips, she took to the air again, coming only inches away from Mellow's face.
"First of all, I have no intentions of dancing with anyone. Second of all..." her voice lowered dangerously, and she spoke slowly, "Who are you to think you can tell me what to do?"
Near: Near had to admit that he was pretty interested in seeing what Midna was able to do, especially now that her mood seemed to change into a darker one due to Mello's provocation.
He decided to observe them, being this the perfect excuse for him not to argue with Mello about his lack of interest in dancing.
Mello: Mello blinked. This girl could fly...? Well, no matter.
"Not what you can do," he corrected, not realizing he was provoking her. "What you can't do. But seeing as you don't want to dance with anyone, it's hardly an issue anymore. Just stay away from Near, will you? Go bother Satan or someone else."
Me: Midna spoke, trying to keep her temper under control, but at the same time, her hair unconsciously shaped into its claw form, reaching for the chair behind her.
"You do not control me, human. You don't know me, I don't like you, and your friend and I are trying to have a conversation, so if you don't mind, I would like you to leave. Before I get angry."
Near: Near's eyes showed something similar to surprise when he saw the shape Midna's hair had took. He then decided that this might become quite dangerous if he let Mello keep provoking her; as tempting as using Mello as a guinea pig was, he didn't exactly wish for the blond boy to end up in a hospital.
"Mello, she's not bothering me, don't worry. You already know how reluctant I am to dancing, I'm afraid you'll have to find a real partner. By any means, don't let me ruin your night."
Mello: Mello had scoffed at the redhead's line (Who said things like that anymore, anyway? "Before you make me angry"? She sounded like the Hulk!) but it was Near's words that made him pause.
Turning to look at him, Mello's eyes met the cold glass of Near's, his words and meaning echoing in his ears. She's not bothering me... find a real partner... go away... something akin to pain stuck something in his chest, and Mello's eyes hardened, covering the hurt.
"Fine," he said curtly. "Enjoy your night."
Without another word, Mello stalked away to rejoin the crowds on the dance floor, even though it was clear to him that he wouldn't be able to have fun anymore.
Me: Midna waited until Mellow vanished into the crowd, then relaxed. Her hair retained its original shape, limp at her shoulders, and she plopped into a chair, breathing hard trying to subdue the enraged beating of her heart.
"Is he...always that arrogant?" she hissed.
Near: Near kept his emotionless eyes on Mello as he left, then returned his attention to Midna after he lost sight of the blond, satisfied to see that her signs of anger had vanished from her already.
"Yes, but his intention is only to ensure my safety". Ok, he was lying, but it wasn't as if she needed to know more than that.
"How about you? Are you usually this easily irritated?" Despite how odd this question might sound, he was actually asking it from genuine curiosity, though this aspect of him had caused several misunderstandings in the past (not that he cared much about it, anyway).
Me: Midna glared at him briefly from the corner of her eye, then looked back at the crowd.
"I just can't stand people like that. Thinking they can just tell people what to do. They think everything is theirs for the taking, and nobody can tell them what to do because they're 'special,' so they treat everybody like their underling and...and..."
Midna trailed off...she knew she was starting to get off track. She turned away from Near, head bowed.
"I'm sorry...it's just...his attitude reminded me of someone."
Near: He noticed the change in her attitude, understanding where her previous bad temper came from.
"I see, Mello touched a sensitive spot, didn't he?" He kept twirling his hair and observing her, unblinking, revealing no emotion in his eyes.
Me: Midna nodded.
"Very."
She didn't know why she was suddenly talking so casually to Near, and she didn't really want to continue to. At least not on this subject.
But finding no other subject to talk about, she sat in silence.
Near: Still observing her, Near mentally remarked that somehow she looked way more submissive now than a moment ago in front of Mello. Physically she looked obviously different from humans, but emotionally speaking she seemed as weak as those.
After a moment of silence, he spoke with his soft, toneless voice.
"You stated previously that you didn't want to be here. You also clearly stated that you had no intentions of dancing with anyone. I assume you aren't fond of crowded places." He paused for a small moment. "Why did you decide to talk to me, then?"
Me: "I don't like humans. They're noisy and sloppy and foolish and never truly know what they want.
But you're different." she looked back at him.
"You don't seem to mingle well with other humans, and you don't act like them either. Somehow I feel like we have more in common."
Why was she telling him these things?
Near: For a moment, Near wasn't sure if he should be amused that the creature in front of him found him different from the rest of humans.
It wasn't the first time his own humanity had been called into question, so this didn't really come as surprise. He didn't even mind it, which made him even question it himself.
He started twirling his hair again, looking slightly away. There were no indications in his expression of him being hurt, though; he seemed more thoughtful than anything else.
"I see. You're right, I don't tend to mingle with other people".
The image of L suddenly crossing his mind "But I'm not the only one who is like this. Even if most humans might be noisy and foolish, which I completely agree, there is still a minority that might share your views."
Me: "You'd be surprised. I've been among humans for a while, and I've only ever truly like one other. And he cares nothing for me. He thinks I'm a monster, just like every other human. I don't know why I put up with him."
Near: He looked at her once more, having expected this from the moment she said that Mello reminded her of someone; she had obviously given it too much importance for it to be mere hatred. She was like Mello in that sense...
But the answer was simple and easy; why did people put up with those who hurt them?
"Because you like him."
Me: "..."
Midna rose, not looking at Near.
"These lights hurt. I'm going outside where it's dark."
She started to leave, pausing only momentarily to look back at Near, numb.
"It was...nice to talk to you, Near. Don't be a stranger."
Near: Near watched her silently as she rose, once more realizing that they did have some things in common, indeed. He knew exactly why she was leaving, and he knew exactly what she meant as well.
He just nodded as she was about to leave, but suddenly, the sight of Mello approaching with Fay and Kurogane caught his attention.
Meanwhile, Mello has a hissy fit that gets other people involved...
Mello: Mello went outside, needing a break from the dancing. Near talking to that girl... ugh. He'd danced long and hard, trying to work off his frustration and anger, to no avail. Some things just didn't leave your mind.
Scowling, Mello kicked the wall, wondering if Near was right, if dances were stupid. At any rate, this one certainly was.
Fay (one of the teachers. Not sure what he's from): Fay was walking with Kurogane, looking for the place where the dance was supposed to be.
They were lost, as usual.
Suddenly, something caught his attention as his eyes snagged on the blonde boy there alone.
'Mello-kun~? Yahho~," he waved happily at the boy, beaming.
Mello: Mello blinked, turning to look at the sound of his name. "...Fay?"
Vaguely aware that he should lapse into his usual state of rage and scream and Fay to leave Near alone, Mello couldn't be roused to care. The Kuro-guy was with him, anyway, so he'd probably leave Near alone at any rate...
"Hi," Mello said, looking up at him. "I didn't know teachers had to come to the dance, too."
Kurogane (no idea who this is :P): "Tch! Like I'd willing agree to come to this stupid thing!" Kurogane growled his fists clenching at his side. The ninja cast Fay a heated glance, narrowing his deep red eyes dangerously, before turning back to the other.
Kurogane gave Mello a hard stare before growling in his usual cold tone, his red eyes narrowing, this time suspicious, "Speaking of...why are you out here and not in there!?"
The man had no trust for the blonde, that was apparant.
Fay: Looking at Mello with curious eyes, Fay smiled to him.
'What are you doing here alone? Didn't you get anyone to come with you?'.
He looked around for Near, surprised not to find him near Mello.
'Do you want Kuropon and me to stay with you?'
Mello: Mello's eyes registered something at their words, before closing off.
"I didn't need anyone to come with me," he said nastily. "I don't care. And sutpid people are busy in there, talking to stupid girls instead of talking to me and don't want me around, so I'm out here until I can go home."
Mello glanced up at them. Even FAY had a date... ugh.
At this point, I was going to post to this thread as Midna sitting out in the dark, then seeing them, but that was when Mello's played invited me into an IM roleplay continuing this drama. Drama, OOCness and cuteness took hold:

KuroFay: FAY: *takes Mello's hand with his right hand and Midna's arm with his left one, trying to take her hand as well*

SageSaria9475: Midna: *scowls* Nothing really. I just said hello, and then SOMEBODY had to get all uppity about it.
moonyartemisgirl: Mello: *shoots her a look* and SOMEBODY was being all secretive and suggestive!
SarianOblivion: (( *steps out a second for some head ache medacine....again* ))

KuroFay: FAY: *grabs Mello's hand harder, and looks at him, serious*

KuroFay: FAY: Near-kun says they didn't even have a conversation.
KuroFay: FAY: Is that correct, Near-kun?
shiroiko1031: Near: Correct again.
shiroiko1031: Near: Midna, please don't take it personally. As I told you before, Mello worries too much about my safety.
moonyartemisgirl: Mello: I do NOT!!
SageSaria9475: Midna: Oh yes you do!
KuroFay: FAY: Then Mello-kun thought there was something wrong and... Mello-kun, let me speak, please
KuroFay: FAY: Midna-chan, you too
shiroiko1031: Near: ...Then perhaps you can enlighten me with your true motives.
SageSaria9475: Midna: *settles back down, sulking*
moonyartemisgirl: Mello: *not listening* they were talking about something secret! And then I tried to join in, and they told me to go away!!
KuroFay: FAY: Mello-kun, did you see the exact moment when Midna-chan approached Near-kun?

KuroFay: FAY: So that's the problem.
KuroFay: FAY: You don't know her, so nobody can tell you she's lying, but
KuroFay: FAY: You know Near-kun is not a liar, don't you?
shiroiko1031: Near: That's quite reasonable, but I'm afraid it's not enough to convince Mello.
KuroFay: FAY: I believe Near-kun would tell you the truth without blinking, even if it was something that could hurt you (^_^)

fandangohigh. I'm not always best at her character, and weird oocness happens sometimes, but it's a multifandom RP: everything is possible!Anyway, there is a thread in the game for the school's dance. Everybody is required to come, but not everybody's shown up yet. But there's already been an intense story that went by with me. And it was so much fun I just HAVE to blog it! OOC conversations and all! OOC always has parenthesis around it.
First, my introductory post:
Midna stalked into the gymnasium, garbed begrudgingly in the dress Hilda picked out for her ((Sorry, Hilda-chan! I had to say it! XD)). What a complete waste of time...she had never felt so degraded in her life when they had to look for clothes in the children's isle of the local department store; everything with itchy frills and annoying bows. At least they found something in black.
Mingling, dancing, everything completely out of the question. Midna only came to avoid her Satanic teacher's wrath...even a mistress of the dark knew when not to press her luck. So upon entering, she merely hovered in a corner and sulked.
(note: Hilda is another character that Midna had earlier made an aquaintence.
Then Near (from Death Note, right? Never read it :P) showed up and we had some drama:
Near: Near walked into the gymnasium, slowly and totally uninterested, wearing his over-sized white pajamas which he didn't bother changing for this event.
He wasn't exactly happy of being in such a noisy and crowded place, both features he always found quite stressing, to say the least, but he had decided to take it as what it really was: A duty.
A duty because he was, after all, member of the student council; also, because Satan stated that attendance was enforced; and, finally, because Mello would create so much drama in case he dared to refuse to go (though this last reason alone, Near concluded, wouldn't have been enough for him to go anywhere).
Feeling really out of place, uncomfortable and really annoyed, he just looked for the farther away chair with the hope nobody would come to disturb him more than what he already was.
Near sat down on the chair, raising one of his legs up to his stomach and twirling his hair as he usually did, silent.
((OOC: I apologize about my English mistakes! (>o<) *still learning*))
Me: Midna was starting to become bored with only sitting by herself. She didn't really want to participate in the dance, but if she only sat in the corner the rest of the night, she would completely lose her mind.
She saw Near sitting alone and decided that he would suffice for distraction. She vaguely remembered him welcoming her to the school, and decided that he was...alright...as humans go anyway.
So she slipped into the shadows of tables and anything else that was cast in the sweet darkness. Before long, she materialised again next to Near, sitting casually in the air.
"It's good to see I'm not the only one who didn't want to be here.
Mello (another Death Note character?): When Mello entered the dance, wearing his trademark leather and crosses, he immediately noticed two things:
1. Near had come
2. There was a girl talking to Near
While the first was a mixed blessing, because while Mello had definitely been determined to make Near attend, it would have been fun to drag him out bodily and create a big fuss.
The second, however, was enough reason for Mello to see red. Girls were not allowed to talk to Near. No one was allowed to talk to Near. Unless Mello dictated it so.
Shoving his way through the crowds, Mello promptly interrupted, not bothering to listen to whatever stupid things the woman was talking about. "Near!" he exclaimed, taking his place beside Near's chair, laying a hand on his shoulder. "Where were you? You're hardly a good date if you don't at least dance one dance with me!"
That was a bold-faced lie, Mello's superego nigged at him, but Mello ignored it. Even if he hadn't asked Near to the dance (who knew how that boy would react, after all?), he hoped Near would play along. Anything to get him away from this... girl.
Finally allowing his eyes to settle on the girl, he raised an eyebrow, his eyes narrowing. "Near... who's your friend?"
Me: Midna looked up at the new boy and twirled up to him, dissheveled red hair dancing around her head as she did. It felt strange; she wasn't used to traveling without her helmet, let alone with her hair down.
She brought herself into the new boy's face, sitting on the back of the chair in front, arms crossed and eyes narrowed.
"I'm Midna. And...who are you?"
Near: Near's concentration was suddenly broken when he saw a creature appearing right in front of him, someone who looked quite different from a normal human being, and who, by the way, was... flying.
His surprise hardly lasted a whole second, though, as he suddenly remembered having met this person online. Even if seeing her with his own eyes was way more impacting, this wasn't the first inexplicable phenomenon he had observed in this school.
As annoyed as he would usually be at being talked to in such a situation, he decided that this individual in front of him was definitely interesting and out of ordinary, which meant that having a conversation with her would be worth it for several reasons. This was the reason why he posted in her journal, after all.
But as soon as he opened his mouth to speak, a very familiar voice interrupted him; a voice followed by a hand on his shoulder, something that made him tense more inside than outside, as he remained quite undisturbed on the surface.
He decided to ignore Mello's first sentence and just let them both talk
Mello: Mello's eyes widened. This Midna girl was... weird. Not only did her hair seem to float about the place, but... there was an odd sort of aura floating around her, like a heavy ominous cloud, and Mello wondered just what it was. Nevertheless, Mello was Mello, and would only be Mello, and as such, refused to be intimidated.
"I'm Mello," he informed her. Deciding to be nice (and more than a little creeped out by her), he extended a hand to shake. "I... don't believe I've met you before. What were you discussing with Near?"
Me: "Just small talk." Midna only somewhat hid the fact that she didn't like this new one; he was rude.
So now that she answered Mello's question, she merely turned to Near again, who looked like he was also ignoring the intruder.
"It's been a while, Near."
Near: Near saw the fact that Midna was ignoring Mello as a sign of an approaching storm, but did nothing about it, as always. Mello would end up getting angry anyway, no matter what the reason, and Near wasn't going to give it much importance right now, as he couldn't help observing and studying the person in front of him with his dark and unblinking eyes.
"Technically, we've never met before. But yes, you could say it's been a while."
Mello: Mello's eyes narrowed. Techincally, they had never met before, but Near would still rather talk to this girl than to him? And he was ignoring him?
Mello's eyes flashed. This Midna person couldn't be *too* dangerous, after all.
"Yes yes, no one's seen the other for forever and whatnot. No one gives a damn," he said, his eyes narrowed. "Now, Near, you owe me a dance. Midna, I suggest you dance with someone too. It is a dance, after all. But not with Near. That's... not allowed."
Me: This was becoming more than Midna could take. Mellow was truly starting to get on her nerves.
Hands on her hips, she took to the air again, coming only inches away from Mellow's face.
"First of all, I have no intentions of dancing with anyone. Second of all..." her voice lowered dangerously, and she spoke slowly, "Who are you to think you can tell me what to do?"
Near: Near had to admit that he was pretty interested in seeing what Midna was able to do, especially now that her mood seemed to change into a darker one due to Mello's provocation.
He decided to observe them, being this the perfect excuse for him not to argue with Mello about his lack of interest in dancing.
Mello: Mello blinked. This girl could fly...? Well, no matter.
"Not what you can do," he corrected, not realizing he was provoking her. "What you can't do. But seeing as you don't want to dance with anyone, it's hardly an issue anymore. Just stay away from Near, will you? Go bother Satan or someone else."
Me: Midna spoke, trying to keep her temper under control, but at the same time, her hair unconsciously shaped into its claw form, reaching for the chair behind her.
"You do not control me, human. You don't know me, I don't like you, and your friend and I are trying to have a conversation, so if you don't mind, I would like you to leave. Before I get angry."
Near: Near's eyes showed something similar to surprise when he saw the shape Midna's hair had took. He then decided that this might become quite dangerous if he let Mello keep provoking her; as tempting as using Mello as a guinea pig was, he didn't exactly wish for the blond boy to end up in a hospital.
"Mello, she's not bothering me, don't worry. You already know how reluctant I am to dancing, I'm afraid you'll have to find a real partner. By any means, don't let me ruin your night."
Mello: Mello had scoffed at the redhead's line (Who said things like that anymore, anyway? "Before you make me angry"? She sounded like the Hulk!) but it was Near's words that made him pause.
Turning to look at him, Mello's eyes met the cold glass of Near's, his words and meaning echoing in his ears. She's not bothering me... find a real partner... go away... something akin to pain stuck something in his chest, and Mello's eyes hardened, covering the hurt.
"Fine," he said curtly. "Enjoy your night."
Without another word, Mello stalked away to rejoin the crowds on the dance floor, even though it was clear to him that he wouldn't be able to have fun anymore.
Me: Midna waited until Mellow vanished into the crowd, then relaxed. Her hair retained its original shape, limp at her shoulders, and she plopped into a chair, breathing hard trying to subdue the enraged beating of her heart.
"Is he...always that arrogant?" she hissed.
Near: Near kept his emotionless eyes on Mello as he left, then returned his attention to Midna after he lost sight of the blond, satisfied to see that her signs of anger had vanished from her already.
"Yes, but his intention is only to ensure my safety". Ok, he was lying, but it wasn't as if she needed to know more than that.
"How about you? Are you usually this easily irritated?" Despite how odd this question might sound, he was actually asking it from genuine curiosity, though this aspect of him had caused several misunderstandings in the past (not that he cared much about it, anyway).
Me: Midna glared at him briefly from the corner of her eye, then looked back at the crowd.
"I just can't stand people like that. Thinking they can just tell people what to do. They think everything is theirs for the taking, and nobody can tell them what to do because they're 'special,' so they treat everybody like their underling and...and..."
Midna trailed off...she knew she was starting to get off track. She turned away from Near, head bowed.
"I'm sorry...it's just...his attitude reminded me of someone."
Near: He noticed the change in her attitude, understanding where her previous bad temper came from.
"I see, Mello touched a sensitive spot, didn't he?" He kept twirling his hair and observing her, unblinking, revealing no emotion in his eyes.
Me: Midna nodded.
"Very."
She didn't know why she was suddenly talking so casually to Near, and she didn't really want to continue to. At least not on this subject.
But finding no other subject to talk about, she sat in silence.
Near: Still observing her, Near mentally remarked that somehow she looked way more submissive now than a moment ago in front of Mello. Physically she looked obviously different from humans, but emotionally speaking she seemed as weak as those.
After a moment of silence, he spoke with his soft, toneless voice.
"You stated previously that you didn't want to be here. You also clearly stated that you had no intentions of dancing with anyone. I assume you aren't fond of crowded places." He paused for a small moment. "Why did you decide to talk to me, then?"
Me: "I don't like humans. They're noisy and sloppy and foolish and never truly know what they want.
But you're different." she looked back at him.
"You don't seem to mingle well with other humans, and you don't act like them either. Somehow I feel like we have more in common."
Why was she telling him these things?
Near: For a moment, Near wasn't sure if he should be amused that the creature in front of him found him different from the rest of humans.
It wasn't the first time his own humanity had been called into question, so this didn't really come as surprise. He didn't even mind it, which made him even question it himself.
He started twirling his hair again, looking slightly away. There were no indications in his expression of him being hurt, though; he seemed more thoughtful than anything else.
"I see. You're right, I don't tend to mingle with other people".
The image of L suddenly crossing his mind "But I'm not the only one who is like this. Even if most humans might be noisy and foolish, which I completely agree, there is still a minority that might share your views."
Me: "You'd be surprised. I've been among humans for a while, and I've only ever truly like one other. And he cares nothing for me. He thinks I'm a monster, just like every other human. I don't know why I put up with him."
Near: He looked at her once more, having expected this from the moment she said that Mello reminded her of someone; she had obviously given it too much importance for it to be mere hatred. She was like Mello in that sense...
But the answer was simple and easy; why did people put up with those who hurt them?
"Because you like him."
Me: "..."
Midna rose, not looking at Near.
"These lights hurt. I'm going outside where it's dark."
She started to leave, pausing only momentarily to look back at Near, numb.
"It was...nice to talk to you, Near. Don't be a stranger."
Near: Near watched her silently as she rose, once more realizing that they did have some things in common, indeed. He knew exactly why she was leaving, and he knew exactly what she meant as well.
He just nodded as she was about to leave, but suddenly, the sight of Mello approaching with Fay and Kurogane caught his attention.
Meanwhile, Mello has a hissy fit that gets other people involved...
Mello: Mello went outside, needing a break from the dancing. Near talking to that girl... ugh. He'd danced long and hard, trying to work off his frustration and anger, to no avail. Some things just didn't leave your mind.
Scowling, Mello kicked the wall, wondering if Near was right, if dances were stupid. At any rate, this one certainly was.
Fay (one of the teachers. Not sure what he's from): Fay was walking with Kurogane, looking for the place where the dance was supposed to be.
They were lost, as usual.
Suddenly, something caught his attention as his eyes snagged on the blonde boy there alone.
'Mello-kun~? Yahho~," he waved happily at the boy, beaming.
Mello: Mello blinked, turning to look at the sound of his name. "...Fay?"
Vaguely aware that he should lapse into his usual state of rage and scream and Fay to leave Near alone, Mello couldn't be roused to care. The Kuro-guy was with him, anyway, so he'd probably leave Near alone at any rate...
"Hi," Mello said, looking up at him. "I didn't know teachers had to come to the dance, too."
Kurogane (no idea who this is :P): "Tch! Like I'd willing agree to come to this stupid thing!" Kurogane growled his fists clenching at his side. The ninja cast Fay a heated glance, narrowing his deep red eyes dangerously, before turning back to the other.
Kurogane gave Mello a hard stare before growling in his usual cold tone, his red eyes narrowing, this time suspicious, "Speaking of...why are you out here and not in there!?"
The man had no trust for the blonde, that was apparant.
Fay: Looking at Mello with curious eyes, Fay smiled to him.
'What are you doing here alone? Didn't you get anyone to come with you?'.
He looked around for Near, surprised not to find him near Mello.
'Do you want Kuropon and me to stay with you?'
Mello: Mello's eyes registered something at their words, before closing off.
"I didn't need anyone to come with me," he said nastily. "I don't care. And sutpid people are busy in there, talking to stupid girls instead of talking to me and don't want me around, so I'm out here until I can go home."
Mello glanced up at them. Even FAY had a date... ugh.
At this point, I was going to post to this thread as Midna sitting out in the dark, then seeing them, but that was when Mello's played invited me into an IM roleplay continuing this drama. Drama, OOCness and cuteness took hold:
