So...I've been thinking about getting a webcam. At least I think that's the word I'm looking for. I want something that I can connect to my computer and tape stuff straight onto it (as opposed to 2 minutes at a time with my digital camera), and then, if I want to,, put them online.

However, most of the webcams I see are for things like IM conversations, so I'm worried. What kind of web/comp cameras am I looking for for what I want?

Many of the cheap web cams give you the choice of really low resolution and decent frame rate or TV resoultion and a low frame rate. This is often compounded with a really crappy lens.

Does your digital camera have a TV output? If so, you could get a video capture adapter and record it. Woot.com sometimes has cheap video capture adapters.

So...does that mean that they can or cannot transfer videos straight to my computer?

I don't think it has a TV output...just the plug for the power supply and the USB slot.

Transfering video to the computer would depend on the software that comes with the camera. Seems like something that would be common.
