I watched some videos from the first Kingdom Hearts on kh-vids.net, and I saw something that made me feel better. Didn't completely answer my questions, but it made me feel better.
When Sora killed himself to revive Kairi (yes, I still consider the Heartless dead. Giving away your heart is suicide.), I thought for some reason that he also released the other Princesses' hearts from his own. That REALLY confused me; I was still trying to wrap my brain about how Kairi's heart got in there, now he has all of them? WTF?
But upon watching the video again, I noticed something; Sora threw himself over Riku's keyblade, and then the blade fell to the floor, THEN the other Princesses' hearts came out as the keyblade disappeared. So they weren't in Sora's heart, they were in the keyblade itself. That makes a LOT more sense! I'm guessing that Riku's keyblade was specifically for absorbing all of the Princesses' hearts so the door would open, which is why it disappeared when Kairi's was released.
Still don't know how or why Kairi's heart was in Sora's, though. All I know is that it had something to do with when Kairi went through him in the beginning of the game. Is that some sort of Princess of Heart safety mechanism or something? "Danger! Hide in the Keybearer! *whoosh*" lol
