It was a really weird feeling in that back yard. For two minutes it was like…I used to live here? But then I looked around, and almost everything was exactly as I remembered, and it was almost like I was home. The back yard of the appartment was my heaven…when no one else was around.

Everything seems really small now…I guess that has something to do with the fact that I’m 8 years older now.

There was a cuban/american family that lived next door to us when we lived there, and they had a cat named Musa. When I passed that appartment, there was a different cat in the window. Either they got another cat, or, I suspect, they’re long gone. Our apartment has lots of flower pots on the porch now.

Another friend of mine lived next to the playground on the second floor; a boy named Alex. He’d be fifteen now. I used to be really close with him. He even used to watch Sailor Moon, he admitted to me. But then one day he said that he didn’t like it anymore because “it’s for girls,” an attitude that still irks me to this day.

Anyway, he moved a few weeks after we did. I looked up at the balcony of his apartment, and it looked like it had been vacant for a while.

It’s weird…I remember so many people who lived in the area, most of them I hated their guts, some of them I still do, some of them I was friends with and now wonder why. But when I was looking around that empty playground, looking up at the buildings where they used to live, remembering exactly where I was when I was being picked on or played with, all I could think was “Where are they now? How have they changed? Would they even remember me?”

They playground hasn’t changed much, except they replaced the wooden frame for the swings with a plastic one. The main set looks like it’s still the one from eight years ago. Right down to the monkey bars that I could never climb. I still can’t, but at least it’s not a scary fall when my hands get tired now.

If it hadn’t rained earlier that day, I would have stayed longer and done more. But I’m definitelly coming back, with a camera next time.
