sagesaria: (German insults 101)

Apparently this is a general Bad Day. And to think my only woes at the moment are that I'm loaded with homework. Yay?

Anyway...

Today I discovered that I am probably THE youngest person in my German class. Everyone else seems to be either in their twenties, or, as Professor Elder put it, have been 35 several times. lol

I'm on a serious Meatloaf high today...I spent the whole trip home listening to both Bat Out of Hell albums...wow that man has a way with words.

My dad and I should go shopping for convinience foods soon. I keep wanting to stay on the campus to do some stuff before I come home, but I'm always too hungry and I don't have any money because my school ID gives me free bus rides. So I want to get a bunch of microwavable pasta things and have them for lunch before doing other stuff, then heading home once I'm done.

I love this campus...all the essentials of a high school without feeling like a high school. I mean come on! Our classrooms have CARPETS! And the caffeteria was more like a food court at the mall! I felt like I was back at Otakon or something! lol

Ok, I'm done. I'd better get to that old dusty English homework then get more German done. (trying to get as much done as I can tonight so I have less work left undone tomorrow; Katrina's coming over and I have a feeling I won't get much work done when she shows up)

Both of the _Bat Out Of Hell_ albums in their entirety are showcases for the music and lyrics of a Mr. Jim Steinman. Meatloaf was the perfect delivery system, but the ordnance was all Jim.
It's also, (I believe) Jim Steinman's voice you reciting the "Love and Death Of An American Guitar" and saying "Will you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?"

Mr Steinman has also written numerous other huge hits for many notable artists, especially:

"Total Eclispse Of The Heart" (Bonnie Tyler)
"Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" (Air Supply)

and a really cool song covered by Bette Middler, whose title escapes me right now.

Anyway, once you get a feel for his grand, almost operatic approach to lyric and music, Jim Steinman's style is UNMISTAKEABLE when you hear it.

Listen to your Meatloaf albums with an ear to the musical changes and the lyrical turns and then watch the B-Movie _Streets Of Fire_ and you will be in for a treat.

And don't forget to thank Todd Rundgren for those two albums. He was not only the producer (who crafted and directed the albums' overall sound and feel), but he also added his own incredible guitar playing to alot of the tracks.
