Aug. 6th, 2006 05:11 pmOTAKON RULED! It was worth getting sore feet and being all sad that it ended.
We showed up just about right when it opened up, and when we got in, the first thing I did was call
nandarou_life and figure out a meeting place. We decided to meet him in the dealers room. On the way, I got my first cosplay picture:
(Shy Guys - Mario)
Then when we got there, David started heading up to the entrance. I got another cosplay photo in...
)(Amelia - Slayers)
and browsed the adorable Mechi plushies before David found us. Glompage, squeeing, and then we kept moving. We browsed the shelves awhile, and got some more pictures.
(bonus points to this Sonic for braving the summer Baltimore heat)
(Moogle - Final Fantasy)
(A cute couple advirtising their kinky paddle. David said he saw them yesterday as a Heartless and a Nobody from Kingdom Hearts. I wish I could have seen it ;_;)
(Messy-haired Sephiroth - Final Fantasy 7)
(Compensating? Or just a really weird fettish?)
(Kairi - Kingdom Hearts)
(Kinda scary looking Sora - Kingdom Hearts)
(ITTY BITTY Aeris - Final Fantasy 7. She's so adorable! I saw her when she tapped on Sora's shoulder and said in the cutsiest voice ever "Excuse me, could I please take your picture?" and I just melted *_*)
(Prince of All Cosmos - Katamari Damacy)
(People were donating things to put on the katamari. Now we know the secret; duct tape!

I also got a cheap Macha plushie. I was torn between her and Menchi, but Menchi seemed to be a more common plushie.
Anyway, once our adventures in the dealers room were done, we went to the art area, where David was gonna try to pick up his friend's commission. More pictures!
(David! Pasty-faced...stupid flash)
(that's better. I am so framing this picture *_*)
(Link and Zelda - Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I'm so happy somebody did LTTP version of Zelda! Best of the series! Woot! I wonder why he chose grey hair, though...)
There was some beautiful artwork in the gallery, including a drawing of adult Link sitting by the treestump in the Lost Woods, flashbacking to his younger self and Saria sitting there, talking. So sad ;_;...
Davi and I split up for a bit after that. I wanted to go down to the game room, but it was closed, so we just lingered in the lobby and got pictures.
(Dark Link - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. LOVE this picture!!!)
(Dark Link again)
(Sora and Kairi - Kingdom Hearts)
(Jack Sparrow - Pirates of the Carribean)
(Sasuke - Naruto. I love the tatoos on his leg)
(Sasuke and Sakura - Naruto)
(Ness - Earthbound. He got a little lost on his way to Melee :) )
(Roxas - Kingdom Hearts 2)
(Biiiig Kingdom Hearts group. As far as I can tell, it's got Roxas, Axel, two Soras, and three Rikus)
(Young Link - Smash Brothers Melee/Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The milk bottle was a nice touch :D)
(Illpalazo - Excel Saga)
There was a DJ set up in the lobby playing random anime/game tunes, and sometime around 1, they played the Numa Numa song, and nearly everyone in the lobby ran up and started dancing.
(Chorus line!)
(More chorus line)
(this lady's braid fell off while she was dancing, so she just started twirling it around like a whip.)
(Go fangirls go fangirls go!)
There was also a girl there who was dangling a box of pocky from a fishing line and making fen jump for it. Lots of fun to be had there :D

I was wearing my neko ears at the time, so I was immediately drawn to the dangly thing, and I think quite a few people took pictures of me jumping for it, including the girl with the fishing rod. I slipped her my email address and told her I wanted the pictures of me. One of the other girls jumping for it accidently pulled it off the rod :(
After that wackiness, things started to calm down, so I called David so we could meet up one last time before we went home. I took these while I was waiting for him. I'm not sure what it's all about either.

Also, I made a compilation of the four short videos I took on the camera:

Hope you enjoyed my brief visit to Otakon. Hopefully I'll actually make it full time next year.
