Notes: Takes place at the very end of Half-Life 2. Not sure how I feel about it.
So many thoughts crossed Gordon’s mind. “What do you want from me?” “Get away from me!” “Fuck you!” Even a simple “No!” would have sufficed. But he couldn’t even open his mouth, is if his voice were taken away under the gaze of those piercing green eyes.
If only he could move. He wanted so desperately to punch that fancy-dressed son of a bitch in the face. Or at the very least reach Alyx.
Oh God Alyx…she was only a few feet away, frozen with her arms shielding her face from the incoming blast. It didn’t take an expert physicist to know that it was too late to evade that explosion. Even Gordon probably wouldn’t survive. But even knowing that, there was the tiniest suspension of disbelief, if he could just reach her he could shield her. He couldn’t just leave her like this, but he knew from the moment that eerie voice reached his ears that there was no option.
God dammit, WHY? What did this man want from him? What was the point of even bringing him here only to pull him away when he’d already done so much. After he’d touched so many people. He couldn’t leave. Not now. God dammit, not now!
Why did he even accept this offer? He had a bad feeling about the guy every time he saw him at Black Mesa. The man offered him a “job” after he’d gone through aliens and soldiers trying to kill him, portals to other worlds and things that can never be forgotten. He knew from the very start that this ordeal was suspicious.
He should have just let him leave him to die on that border world. He never thought that day could have gotten any worse.
A familiar haze washed over his mind, the world losing depth and color. No. No! He couldn’t leave now! A sense of panic set in as the swirling lights of nothingness swept past him.
He was gone twenty years already…when would he be brought back next?
His eyes fluttered as the man stepped out of sight.
Come back! Come back!!!
No! He can’t do this! Dammit!
