Yeah. I got the old Sonic the Hedgehog Movie in Netflix a while ago. It's cute and fun and kiddy, and I'm absolutely in love with it. I swear, I feel like I'm 9 years old again! They got several things wrong, like claiming that Knuckles was a mole...but it did use one thing that drove me up the wall in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I used to love that show, but now I have grown out of it. It has become repetitive and very cheesy, kiddie and often rather stupid. Even if it did make me appreciate things like this (specifically episode 61. Damn website won't let me link to the comic itself). And one of the many things that bothered me about the show is this;

Yes, Tails is very young (not 4 like they claim in Adventures of, but still young). Yes, Tails looks up to Sonic and often depends on him to do things that he can't. Yes, Tails is inexperienced and very often burried in Sonic's shadow. But he *does* have many strengths. He is a mechanical genius. He invented the Tornado. He FLIES the Tornado. He touches subjects that his friends wouldn't reach with a 10 foot poll!

He did NOTHING like that in Adventures of. He was COMPLETELY dependant on Sonic. Anytime the slightest thing went wrong, he was all "Kyaaaaaah, Sonic help me!" The only time he ever did ANYTHING by himself was when Sonic was unable to do anything. And it proved nothing; his opponents were weak, slow, and stupid.

But we know from the games that, while he does need Sonic for some things, Tails is perfectly capable of functioning without him, and does so! He is a solo character in Sonic 3. In Sonic Adventures (the Dreamcast Game), he takes Eggman on all alone. And of course, as I said before, he is the pilot and creator of their plane, Tornado. Not to mention, Sonic often depends on Tails, like in Sonic 3, when he needs Tails to carry him because he is the only one who can fly.

Ok, I'm done. Sorry, I just can't stand to see my favorite character in the series (next to Knuckles) warped out of canon and thrown so deep into the shadows you can barely tell he's there.

I know what you mean. That really bugged me in both series. Even in the "Saturday morning cartoon" series, where he was usually the kid left at home in Knothole.

Yeah, that one was better, but still had the Tails problem. At least Tails did actually do some really helpful things in the series; I remember that he figured out that Sally was replaced by a copy. Except that nobody believed him -_-;
