Notes: A canon scene, but I wanted to write what was going on IN the hovercraft. I hate the last paragraph -_-
“We’re gonna do it! We’re gonna do it! We’re gonna do it!!!“
Jade heard Double H’s chanting, but it was far in the back of her mind. Her face contorted with concentration as she adjusted her sweating hands on the wheel of her hovercraft, leg shaking from pressing the gas so hard for so long, holding a speed of 300 MPH. These races weren’t something to be taken lightly, even if you were winning. The competition was fierce, especially in the finals; one false move and you could be driven right into a wall.
The home stretch of the third and final lap was ahead of them. Just a few more feet and the pearl they needed for that new jump kit at Mamago’s would be theirs.
Miss Seven pulled up to her driver side, the only competition in the game at this point. She turned her head to make direct eye contact with Jade, who stared right back.
Then as the finish line drew near, her green lips curled to a smirk, and she slammed her palm onto the boost. The engines exploded with sound and in a three second burst of speed, the other vehicle was left behind.
An airhorn sounded, and the loudspeakers crackled with the overenthusiastic voice on the other end; “UNBELIEEEVABLE! IT’S THE LITTLE ROOKIEEEEE!!!!”
“Miss Jade! We’ve won the championship!” the little boat-like car rocked slightly in the water as Double H all but jumped out of his seat, whooping and laughing with excitement. Jade slowed, pulling to the side to let the other hovercrafts pass, loosening her grip and catching her breath. The adrenaline kicking in she started laughing herself, throwing her hands up in the air.
“Yes!”
Suddenly Double H grabbed her, pulling her close to him. She would have yelped, but it only came out muffled by his lips on hers. She flailed as he deepened the kiss, taking advantage of the space between the seats to dip her slightly.
Maybe it was the natural high from the victory, but past the initial shock, the moment froze for a moment in Jade’s mind. She was overcome with a giddy feeling, which caused her to break into a slight giggle fit as Double H pulled away.
