recap of rehearsals from this week
Two moderately constructive rehearsals this week! It's a miracle!
We've practiced about half of the play now. I'm only in two scenes so far, might be more, I dunno (it's fun to be a bit part :P).
In my second scene, Lisa put me next to Arden, who plays the male lead/romantic interest, so right before Maggie's character came over to him and they started introductions/flirting, I decided that I should start hitting on Arden, and then he brushes me aside to talk to Maggie. That idea came to me on a very caffeinated mind, and Lisa loved it. She also liked me going over to him to try again, only to get knocked over by Dylan, playing the drunk.
It just occurred to me that in both of my roles so far have really bad luck LOL
Speaking of caffeinated mind, I was SOOOOOO hyper yesterday at that rehearsal! I got a Pepsi from the vending machines after school, because I had a second lunch and nothing to drink, and when I did that I realised that the rehearsal started at 2:30, not 4. So the Pepsi kicked in just at the right moment. I was focusing on my work in the part, but when we weren't practicing, I was bouncing off the walls. Most notable was when I asked Lisa about my idea about hitting on Arden; *bounce bounce bounce bounce* "LisaLisaLisaLisaLisa!"
We've got another rehearsal this upcoming Tuesday, right after the auditions for the musical. Which means I'll be out reaaaaally late. But that's ok, 'cause I heard we're finally getting props and sets, and we're going to start semi-dress rehearsals, so I can start wearing my flapper dress!
(Around the time I finished typing that, Mom and Marc came home and asked what was burning. I forgot I had a pot on the stove. ooops......:/ but no harm done since I caught it in time)
We're performing later this month. And just FYI, my "New Years Resolution" (IE, my goal which just happened to come into effect after New Years) is to start looking for a job RIGHT after the play.

I went to the auditions for our school play (The Laramie Project) on Wednesday, after crazy bouts of self-doubt and self-confidence and self-idiocy, and while I do not have a speaking part (or even a bit part, although I may get shoved in as an extra) I am an entire half of the publicity team! Largely because I am also on the newspaper, I suspect. This means lovely stuff like newspaper articles and posters and morning announcements and stressing over the playbill. (Ooh, I wonder if I get a budget!) Rehearsals start this week, for us.
...waitaminnit. Your school did Peter Pan this year, and now it's doing this play right now (Into the Woods? I forget what you told me it was...) and it's going to be doing a musical next...wow...your school must have a big and burgeoning Liberal Arts/Theater department to support so many plays. And a big and burgeoning Thespian community. I am envious. We are doing one play on a hate crime, and you are doing pretty plural musicals.

The musical this year is Damn Yankees. The one-act I'm in is SS Supernova.
Have fun in your part :D At least you got *something* in your sophomore year :/ I didn't get anything until now :(
