Drabble #19
Prompt #49: Happy
Fandom: Flamingo Heights/Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Genre: General
Rating: G
Notes: A short little story about Saria meeting her newborn host brother. Eh, I don’t really feel like my heart was in this one >:
Saria fidgeted anxiously as her host father picked her up from Kurama’s house to take her to the hospital. She had been waiting for this moment for nine long months, but even in the excitement, she felt a little nervous, not only from the idea of seeing the new baby, but from the atmosphere of the hospital. The clean, white building was unsettling, not to mention the last time she was there, Midna had been in a bad accident.
She clung tightly to Akito’s hand as they walked, trying to keep herself as close as possible. He simply smiled, petting her head reassuringly with his free hand. Soon they reached the right door, which Akito pushed open slowly.
Inside, Laura, Saria’s host mother, sat up in bed, cradling a bundle. She looked up at the two of them entering and smiled. Akito smiled back, gently tugging Saria along.
“Come on sweetheart,” he said gently, “Come see your baby brother.”
Cautiously, the little Kokiri crept into the room, approaching Laura as quietly as possible. The redhead woman smiled, lowering herself enough so Saria could see the sleeping newborn she held, wrapped in a hospital blanket.
“Saria…” she said sweetly, “This is Robert.”
Saria looked over him curiously, her eyes suddenly wide and bright. She had never seen a baby so close before.
“Can I hold him?”
Laura nodded, shower her how to support him properly and handing him to her, still holding him with Saria just in case. He let out a muffled coo at the exchange, making Saria smile even more, cradling him carefully.
“Hi Robert…” she whispered, unable to resist nuzzling him a little.
Akito sat on the bed next to his wife, leaning on her lovingly as they both watched Saria with the baby. She had a special little glint in her eyes when she looked at him, and they both smiled when they saw it. Laura reached out and stroked Saria’s hair.
“You be a good older sister for him, ok?”
Saria smiled at her, “Yes Momma~”
